"Poignant" is perhaps more accurate than "sad" for this first song.

 

My second offering is a sad/poignant performance of Goodnight Irene by the Weavers. It was a big hit for the Weavers in 1950.

This performance was in 1980, only a few months before Lee Hayes died of diabetes.

As one gets older - Be it the young fresh Hippie, the Rebellious Punk , the Bohemian New Romantic ,,, etc  produce a Melancholy muse that one only perhaps appreciates with the passing of time and "In the glass, I saw a strange reflection ..."  rings true
