    Cannibal Corpse has been interesting.

Their cover work and lyrics back in the day were kinda awful.
Now they don't seem to put as much effort into their covers or their lyrics but the music has become a lot better. :D

Alex Webster their bassist/primary songwriter is really into Jazz Fusion. So is Steve DiGiorgio the bassist from Sadus and Death. I think that has an influence on their playing and writing.

I never digged industrial metal much either. One of the few exceptions in that subgenre for me was and still is Ministry - Psalm 69

To me metal doesn't get more boring and irritating than Slayer though, so it is all terribly subjective. I also like to shit on Megadeth a lot. And stuff like Rammstein and Marilyn Manson.

I bash all those bands too Asmo. I've never listened to a Slayer album but I've seen them live. Wasn't that great either tbh.

There were always some women in heavy metal. What about Doro or Holy Moses? But yeah they were and are rare ;)

Here's another band with a lovely lady on vocals:

Wow, the drummer actually played the hats a little in this one...
Hi-hat work is becoming rare in metal these days, most guys just bash on it, rarely working the pedal.

Ugh enslaved. I tried listening to that "vertebrae"....

    PROG shit. -.-

Got like three tracks into that. Waste of money. Really upset Terrorizer gave it 10/10.

I liked the new Morbid Nagel album first listen. Well the one that sounded really different with the Latin album name.
Got sick of it after a few listens.
I liked one of the purple cover albums. Can't remember which letter.

If I recall right we talked about Enslaved some time before (probably over a year ago). They're one of those bands that really changed over the years. Most would say they progressed, and I guess we can't deny they did so technically. But yeah, I got totally in love with early Enslaved (viking and norse pagan themed black metal) and similar bands that focus on raw agression and atmosphere rather than technique and production (which doesn't mean there isn't any of course ;) :p). When I mention Enslaved in threads like these I'm never talking about albums like Vertebrae.
It's like listing an album like Ride the lightning or Master of puppets which then gets thrown on a pile with later albums of same band like Reload or St. Anger by others. But they're different styles of metal. They only have the band name and some members in common. Progressive metal (as in the subgenre, I'm not against any progression in a metal band :D) is not really my cup of tea either

Hey, Irmi if you don't know them already and feel like checkin above songs out: what do you think of Sorgsvart!?
