That'd be a crazy long list.
You'd have every song with a person's name, plus incidentals and secondary characters.
    Like "My Uncle."

I know it would be a long list. That's probably why I'm so interested. -Someday perhaps I shall make it.

I was just trying to make a decent list. If anyone cares...my daughters name is Cassidy. Not so much after the song. I just liked the name.

my boyfriend's niece is named Cassidy.. My boyfriend never realized the mythology of the song until he met me. Her older brother was a fan of the Dead and chose her name then died in a car accident shortly after she was born.

there he goes and now here she starts

a tragic but pretty neat little story. His family's mind was blown when I told them the meaning of the song.

this thread reminds me of the poster 100 grateful dead songs.

That's what I did. But I left out ones like "my uncle" and only included names or characters named without a proper name like "The Sailor". There were many others that could have been included had I not done it the way I did....but I'm pretty sure I got all of the proper names anyway. I thought there would be more.

That is an interesting story. Was the family even aware of the song?

If you ask my wife, she will say our daughter is named after a Dead song. But it was more like....we were on the way to a show in Michigan and Cassidy came on the CD player. I said "I've always thought that if I ever had a daughter, I might like to name her Cassidy". She was conceived later that afternoon in our hotel room. Crazy. So she's kind of "named after" a Dead song but mostly I just liked the name.

I was thinking Colliope as well! I can't tell if the lyrics are talking about the instrument or the Greek goddess. What do you think??
