Eva was born in pre-war Vienna. She escaped with her mother who took her to England, and then Australia.
Eva's father would often ask her: 'What have you done to change the world today?'.
Eva fell in with the Push, a collection of bohemians and intellectuals that gathered in Sydney pubs in the 1950s, where she met Germaine Greer and Robert Hughes.
She became a feminist and joined the Women's Electoral Lobby, where she worked to improve the status of migrant women in particular.
