I don't really know what to classify as grunge, because Nirvana are considered the epitome of grunge, and Nirvana considered themselves a tribute to punk. What we're really talking about is an individualistic spirit. Nirvana weren't sell-outs for inspiring this in our mainstream culture. But now the problem is everyone thinks they have to act like Kurt SOMEHOW in order to be interesting. Punk was never about heroes. It was about weirdos. And that owes a lot to real heroes, perhaps, who dared to step out of line in the past. People fear change irrationally. Like everything is going to start having pink and purple spots or something.
Sorry, I always have trouble posting videos on mobile. It's The Melvins, Electric Flower. https://youtu.be/7W1eXDxlwmE And grunge is one of my favorite genera's.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaqxGRYnvHU not grunge but is as much as some other bands on here. grunge isnt really even a type of music its more like a style fad. it would be like labeling all the bands that wore bell bottoms into the same category back in the 60s. i wonder if i would have stopped liking "grunge" music if i was listening to it in high school. i was there right when it hit but being an outcast i just wasnt into what was 'cool' at the time. i just discovered all this great music a year or two after i graduated. i am kind of glad it happened that way even though i may have missed some good concerts as a teen.
