i'm happy for everyone who gets a day off from work or school because of it.

i'm also happy, that it isn't the government that's the problem (except when republicans are running it).
its corporate feudalism that has usurped consent of the governed.
and corporate feudalism isn't run by jews, moslems, or lizards from outer space,
its run by wasp supremists like a certain piece of filth who tells homeless people who have to listen to an hour of right wing brainwashing that pretends to be christianity, in order to get something to eat, that he's their white knight who's going to make it all better for them, by doing the same things that have screwed everything up already.

i'm happy for pretty colored lights in the sky, that are made by things that burn and explode, in the middle of summer, when everything is dried out and burns easily.

well i'm happy people enjoy it. and i'm happy for a country, that has always been pretty darnd good, but would be a hell of a lot better, if it stopped trying to pretend, it was the only reason the rest of the universe was created, and that being so, gives it a divine right to rob the rest of the planet.

by robbing and genociding people who had been here for eleven thousand years. minor little detail. no offense to anyone intended.
people who had homes, and families and values. even agriculture and even more and better technology then their concorors today are very often willing to admit that they had.
and remember this was before the age of steam and coal, which invading europe didn't have either. just guns. and militant arrogance.

No one is purfect, and no one needs to be.
But no one needs to try and see how messed up they can get away with being either.
And too many seem to think that's what freedom and greatness and america is all about.

I'm not saying that as criticism of anyone here,
or anyone anyplace, except that its something I see too often all the time,
almost every where I go.

I think the male humans too often forget, they have just as much right,
as any other gender, species, nation or planet,
to be not messed up and to avoid messing up themselves and everything else.

 

I hope all that 4th july stuff stays in this one thread, instead of every other proud american making a new special thread.
I'd wish yall a happy holiday but idgaf, just like you dgaf about any of my holidays (or any other country's).

The 4th is a good holiday to be used mystically, to serve us that are true Mystics another world concuring purpose.

Not one of my favorite holidays. Too hot, too crowded, not enough activities for people like me.

 

I better check my calendar.... says It's not the 4th yet.

 

USA Today says the most commonly watched movie over the July 4 weekend in recent years is "Gettysburg", which was surprising to me because I don't know many other people who have seen it. The battle took place from July 1 to July 3, 1863.

I'll probably watch it tomorrow, and mix some drinks and do some cooking.

 

I love 4th of July, not for the patriotism, but for the warm weather, laid back vibe, drinking, swimming, cookouts. Low pressure, no gift giving. Just enjoying the summer sun .
