Come on man, sine waves aren't even musical sound. They have no periodicity, no harmonic content, no character of their own. A single pure sinusoidal wave doesn't even exist in nature. Flutes are cool though. They produce periodic tones, full of natural harmonics.
i love glissandos of sine wave oscillators myself. i'm really not big on rasty or distorted sounding sounds. i don't care much for those which are over used either. in the 50 and before, the sax was for a while. today it has gained the redemption of having become somewhat rare. i'm not big on guitars, orchestral string sections when they're overused, (or used inappropriately) as they had been in the 60s remixes of 20s and 30s pop my mother used to listen to, nor the dominance of conventional snare drum rhythm instruments. (replace the latter with tympany congas, bongos, tablas and so one, much more pleasant) the best sounds to me sound like they're produced on instruments that sound like they don't exist. decent electronic sounds were rare until moog, butchla, and their followers came along, which wasn't until i was in my teens. well that's the thing about taste; we each have our own when we're honest about it. i don't expect anyone else's to be mine. that and sound quality are both reasons ear phones were one of the most wonderful inventions.
i'd rather take two theremin and call myself in the morning. (i do like a lot, as in most, of the music that was composed for it though, and the musicians who play well the 'ill wind' someone once said 'no one does')
I played tenor and alto sax for about 6 years in school. It's a fun instrument to play, but I wanted to play the drums. My parents wouldn't let me, so that was second choice This is my favorite song featuring the sax:
