I'm surprised at how many responses this gets. I'm gonna be composing some music for my friends sax to see what it sounds like today. Should be lots of fun. Maybe in a few months, I'll upload a recording. I'll be playing the piano, but I might also compose some sax sounds to go over electric guitar. What we really need though is an upright bassist. Those guys are hard to find though. All the big bass players are in music school and consider themselves to be above amateurs in my experience.

you do know the difference between a saxophone and a trombone, right hotwater? Because I know some people get confused...{{rolls eyes}}
The Fabulous Thuderbirds have some great Sax work. Listen to "Someday You'll Want me" it's on You Tube.
i once heard the sax described as an ill wind, no one blows well. not my favorite reed, but i know that's an unfair exaggeration. the pure sweetness of a simple sinesoidal waveform i like better. sine waves and theremin. wooden flutes being the closest thing simple tools and natural materials can emulate. there was a midevil instrument, made of wood, the sax's ancestor though. still like a sakahachi better.
