It is Sanskrit, from India. The symbol is Om or Aum, represents the creator, preserver, destroyer (liberation) or the complete cycle of life - whatever. It is a meditation on existence and the 'Word' itself is a mantra. You will see it as a tat on many ppl, not necessarily Hindu.
^ What he said. hah. For me it is to help me remember to "breathe" daily. "Breathe" being one of the mantras this symbol stands for. It's a reminder to stay true to myself and the universe. To stay centered and focused/
MY NEW TAT Well, I have observed that tattoos may be addictive. I just got my newest. Today I added a Florida illustration, because I have been here off-and-on since 1975 Actually, it is to balance the last one I got, which illustrated two cities that influenced my life, St. Louis & New Orleans.
I heard it does not last. All my tats are in black ink, but one (without me knowing) got hi-lited in white ink. It was the Mobius strip (infinity). It is a small tat and barely noticed but that is when my friend told me it wouldn't last anyhow. He wanted to get a golf ball tat and learned that white ink is not long-lasting.
Thanks Shale, I do prefer the blank ink and if I got a tatt I wouldn't want it to fade so quickly. Thought I'd consider all options though, was looking at something like this...
Shale is absolutely correct. It won't last long. The photo on the left was last June when I first got the tattoo, the right is now. Notice the tips of the flowers and the teeth. Same with reds and pinks. They tend to fade faster.
Hmm, it does a bit...And love the tattoo! Think you've both steered me away from the white tattoos (or branding :s) thanks!
they do look a bit like scars, not sure if I like them or not: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=w...qN6yw7AaCtICADg&ved=0CDAQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=624
Personally, for me, I wouldn't get a white tattoo. Most tattoo artists would tell you the same thing. Like Mama and Shale said...they fade so fast. I just don't see the point. I think they look cool when they are first done but you have to enjoy it fast before its gone. If I'm going to pay for and go through the process of a tattoo I want it to last.
Thanks Ruby, I've been planning on getting a tattoo for years, just can't make a decision on what to get!!!
