about sewing buttons

    hi,all,what sort of thread or size/ thickness do I need to sew on buttons that have fell off a pair of trousers and is there a special stitch to keep them on, sorry about such a basic question.

    I actually go overboard and use quilting thread. Any medium thickness thread will work, however.
     
  3. The holes in the button dictate the size of needle. A good quality thread will last longer and remember to fasten off well!

    I go through the button far more times than necessary.... it won't fall out THIS time! And my husband taught me to tie the thread in a knot around the button at the end to give it some strength and enough give to let the loop through.
