.....because of your STRONG POLITICAL VIEWS??

I can think of a few ppl who dont talk to me anymore WHO ARE OBAMA SUPPORTERS for example and i have made it quite clear what i think of this idiot and what he HAS DONE and IS DOING to this country! (They are so brainwashed and in control they cannot deal with someone who speaks against thier programming (The truth))

Really makes me curious if thats exactly why they dont talk to me anymore!!!

Anyone else notice things like this??

I have seen some facebook friends unfriend each other over political differences. I didn't know the republican democrat divide was taken so seriously in America.

I've certainly gotten into heated arguments with friends because of my political opinions, but I've never lost a friend because of them. At least any good friends anyway. If a friend is willing to cut ties with you because of a political disagreement, they weren't good friends to begin with.

Not directly. I haven't argued politics ever since I left college. However, I have lost friends indirectly in relation to politics/philosophy. After a while, it became quite apparent that I was never able to keep liberal friends for very long.

We always bump heads about political correctness, about their fetish for equality, and their control freak attachment to government/regulation, their condescending savior complex, their little guilt trips, and sense of entitlement.

In short, about their holier-than-thou moralistic prudishness.

I'm smart enough to know when someone is so blinded by there political believes that it's useless to argue with them. So no I have lost any friends over it.

I got a stigma in the late 80's and I was told I was bipolar. To my devastation I not only got upset, I lost all of my friends. Been a loner pretty much since then. It has taken a lot for me to get use to being alone. A lot of people are afraid of people with a stigma. I really do not believe really that I am that bad. I pray and try to do good.
God helps me to make good decisions.

I wouldn't break a real friendship over politics - unless their 'politics' involved active persecution of particular groups. I can handle the odd prejudiced person in my life, if they don't actually harm anybody. I wouldn't break a friendship because of the way somebody voted - how stupid is that? I'd say friendships have not started because of 'political' differences.

  10. The circles I move in tend to hold the same political and social views. That does not mean to say that we don't "discuss" issues. I don't and have never had friends who do not think basically along the same lines as me. As for others well that's a whole different ballgame! I regularly demonstrate against social and political injustice and because of this am seen as a bit of a pariah in some circles. Revolutionary socialism is not everyone's cup of tea.

Perhaps it is not your political views so much, as it is your method and attitude for getting them stated to others.

If you truly think someone is brainwashed and not an equal to you, why would you want them as a friend? And why would you even care if they talk to you?

That can certainly be annoying enough to drive people away.

I avoid people who do that even if I agree with them. There's nothing worse than someone who absolutely knows beyond the shadow of a doubt that they're right and everyone else is wrong and therefore dumb/brainwashed.

That's probably why my politics haven't lost me friends. Because I accept differences of opinions, and if I think they're wrong and I don't respect their opinion (which has happened with some friends and family) I shut up about it because I respect them as people.

My old friends are all repubs and come out with some crazy shit sometimes. We have decided a long while back to forego political discussions. I get a zinger in every once in a while though. We have the old days and long friendships in common and can still have fun together. That counts more than trying to convince/browbeat one another into political compliance with each other.

I'm not a dick about my politics so its never affected my friendships at all .

I love a good political discussion but I don't really take it serious enough to let it truly effect my life. Politics is a farce.

The people pulling the strings wants to create a divide. That's why they focus so much on wedge issues that don't really matter. If you let it effect your friendships you're only falling into a trap.

No, because I don't shove my views down other people's throats and I am not closed minded.

I can't/won't be friends who are against gay marriage, cannabis legalization, or abortion. I have a few coworkers who hold opposing views and we've gotten into it, but now they know to not bring it up.
My husband and I get into it politically with his family, on Facebook and IRL, and we always win, so they eventually give up bringing it up.

I've definitely turned a lot of people away from me with my views over the years, including people from these forums. I find that the more you say which challenges people's established reality, the more people dislike you for it. This is why you can have political views which are "normal" by societal standards, yet the polar opposite from people you might happen to be debating, and you will still be liked a lot more than if you have your own views, which do not bare any resemblance to those disseminated by the media and are often considered to be "conspiratorial."

Unlike most people, I don't have political views, which is not to say that I don't have views.

well i know i probably have. my skin is fairly thin about a lot of other things but its a lot thicker about that one. i love affection as much as anyone. possibly even more then most. or at least some. but the kind of world we all have to live in, affects the happiness, even lives, of everyone. compared to that, the loss of the friendship of one friend, or even all of them, is readily acceptable.

i'd rather have friends then enemies of course, but the loss of friends concerns me less then the accumulation of enimies who might burn me at the stake in the town square with the deliberate indifference or even active participation of authorities.

so i'm not entirely without caution, nor even particularly brave. i don't want to give the impression of pretending to be that. but the kind of world we all have to live in, really is more important, for the simple reason that we really do, all, have to live in it.

Indeed.... They have been so brainwashed (Especially since the 90s when this digital crap really started) and they cannot use thier own minds anymore and when you talk about things OUTSIDE THAT CONTROLLED PROGRAMMING,thats when the problems start!!

    Its very real and scary!!
