Don't drink that shit ice cold or it will taste like shit. It's best served at or near room temperature. And definitely don't drink it straight from the bottle.
I have some glasses that i can pour it into. Is it really that much better served around room temperature? I'm not really familair with drinking beers like that, only read a tad about it.
Dark Belgian ales never taste good cold. Same with imperial stouts, barleywines, doppelbocks and other heavier beers. They are supposed to be served closer to room temperature to get the full flavor and body. If you drink an abbey ale cold, you miss out on much of the creaminess and flavor. They just don't taste good cold. I mean, you can drink them slightly chilled, but definitely not straight from the refrigerator. The serving temperature should be listed right on the bottle. You can try it out for yourself. Try drinking one cold, then try it after it's been sitting at room temperature for a while. See for yourself what tastes better. In my opinion, the only beers that should really be served COLD are shitty macro lagers, which most people don't even drink for the taste. IPAs can also be enjoyed slightly cold, but not ice cold.
I just looked and it says erve at 50 degrees farenheit. idk how i would know when it hits that temp though.
Alright will do. thanks. i saw a few more brews from ommengang at whole foods but went with this one. never had anything by them before. Arent they near you? Ive heard good things about this brewery.
Yes, Ommegang is awesome -- definitely one of my top five American breweries. They specialize in Belgian ales which rival many of the best beers imported from Belgium. They are based out of Cooperstown, which is only a couple hours from here. I toured the brewery back on 2009. The first beer I ever had from them is their Hennepin, which is a saison, and is among their most popular beers. They've introduced many new beers since then, but their flagship beers are the Hennepin, abbey ale, Rare Vos (Belgian amber ale) and Three Philosophers (a Belgian quad).
So voerall i liked the abbey ale. tasted of dark fruit. only thing i didnt care for was how incredibly carbonated it was .
