~Psychedelic Folk~

Whats your favorite psychedelic folk? I am finding it difficult to get into the genre, I just dont know where to start. Help me out a little, I like such artists as Incredible String Banda, Donovan, Fairport Convention, Trees. Im looking for more psychedelic stuff though.

Any psychedelic music enthusiast's collection must include some XTC and Kula Shaker albums. I personally think that two of the very best are "Chips from the Chocolate Fireball" by The Dukes of Stratusphear--a mid 80's project by XTC to pay homage to the original wave of psychedelia. As good as Kula Shaker and The Dukes are,Id never have them down as psych folk.Try Mellow Candle,COB,Trees and Doctor Strangely Strange.

 

I like this compilation put out by Mojo Magazine.

 

Donovan is the best in my mind.

 

I'm a big fan of the man . He's right up there ,that's for sure .

 

Not all these bands are psychedelic all the time but all of them have some aspects of that genre.
