My list could just as easily be 5 floyd albums.

    1.pink floyd - animals
    2.soul coughing - ruby vroom
    3.the beatles - sgt. Pepper
    4.delirium - karma
5.pink floyd - piper at the gates

I will have to look closer at my collection, maybe I will change this with more thought.
edit:i know ruby vroom dosnt fit with the typical psychedelic type of music, but it is in spirit no different.

haha Awesome to see yet another dude with the same taste as me! I haven't heard the Electric Prunes one yet, though. I'll have to check it out.

Also, if anyone's interested, PM me and I can send you links to an audiophile 13th Floor Elevators set I acquired before Demonoid went down. If you're familiar with the Elevators, then you know that generally the CD's that have been released sound like crap. The versions I have are much better quality than any of the crappy remasters, and they're sourced from the original vinyl. You've seriously never heard them sound so good until you've heard these versions. So clear.

In my mind for top 5 psychedelic albums.
    5. The Grateful Dead: Anthem of the Sun (1968)
    4. Country Joe and the Fish: Electric Music for the Mind and Body (1967)
    3. Pink Floyd: Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967)
    2. Hawkwind: Space Ritual (1973)
    1. Unites States of America: Their self titled album (1968)

PS: Why isn't the band USA mentioned here? Although the only made one album and toured once, their music is way ahead of it's time. Also they did psychedelic rock without electric guitars but preferred strings, keyboards and electronics, including primitive synthesizers, and various audio processors, including the ring modulator. Also the first band to have a fretless bass player, and electric violin player which was pretty basly to have in a rock band.

If you feel ballsy enough, 10,000 Days by Tool is fucking insane. Also Fear of a Blank Planet by porcupine Tree and The Discovery by Born of Osiris.
