That's exactly it. I too am- although a bit younger- trying to get a sustaining food thing in motion! the multi-stemmed corn that permaculturists are into is up ahead for me. Right now I'm getting my beans together. I have a few mustard varities in the ground- very light down here in florida. Well, in about a few days we'll know the sprouting test results. I'm also requesting a few other beans from far away places....check this out- Florida has more fresh water springs- than anyplace else on Earth. plus a 12 month growing season... john H. zone 9b
yah so they say..... someday, it would be a luxery to prepare cattail, harvest wild rice, search out persimmons, gather ramps and every thing else. this year my campout has got a few mustard greens, a few radish seedlings, lettuces and ridicchio.. I intend to master the bean, and pea, get a few taters in the ground as well....
free food in the woods is the song of abundance and enough to share . ' in the woods ' just means a peaceful free place to gather as family . every farmer will a have a philosophy of abundance . but you can see the differences among them , as jesus say , you know them by their fruits and nuttiness .
I don't know who Archy Roach is. It looks like he's a landscaper... this is what I have in mind. :sultan:
Last week I did my seed shopping. I picked up at convenient local stores- lots of beans- pole and bush variety, Stevia, and one of my favorite summer blooming annuals Mexican Sunflower... My beans are sprouting- the weather has been warming... Spring is coming on! got a rain shower- that is what did it, how marvelous. Keep gardening, John H. zone 9b Florida
hey, that seems like a technical question- I don't know if I should awnser grammatically or with just with plain english... I mean it's green and all.. I water it...I pull up weeds...stuff like that???
well, just a quick look at what I've been upto. Mustard greens, Pigeon peas, and a look at the garden- a vista thing. Gardening is what you grow, or what grows and of course everyone will tell you .... I love to plant seeds, and am ready to join others in an all-out-seed-planting place to live on.
Can anyone help e with vertical gardening. Internet is proving not of much help. I am planning one for my bedroom.
Vertical Gardening is easy if you just hang a few planters on a wall. You can use any material that suits your style. Try Pinterest here Vertical Garden for a ton of inspiration. I'm wanting to start my own garden as well. I have a few tomato plants but that's it. My dad grows a large garden every year and I plan to keep up the tradition. It's a lot of work but a labor of love. Good luck and happy gardening.
this year i'm growing radishes, swiss chard, spinach, lettuce, scallions, eggplant, tomatoes, artichokes, potatoes, and carrots. this is the first time where space has been an issue so i'm limited to those, and trying to get as much yield with as little space as possible is a different challenge
