You are not really doing yourself, Putin or russians a favor by coming in here and not give your opinion about Putin, but more so about american presidents, or go on about problems in the western world. In fact, just like Souljah's answer, your post too is mostly about how you want us not to picture him :-D
That Putin is very popular in Russia among a lot of people is partially because of the biased media of course. You can always reply with some comparisons of western media and a valid example of how they are sometimes oppressed but it remains a fact western journalists can say a lot more about their president than journalists in Russia. A good indication of what kind of president Russia has and what kind of policy he is enforcing.

This post is pretty pathetic. We better not bother expressing or forming an opinion about Putin because we have things to worry about in our countries :D Hey man, suprise: we can do both. And if you would have read this thread you would have known nobody in here is taking Fox news at face value. So stop distorting things so ridicilously, or relay the focus of this thread!

Your tactic is hilariously simple: let's focus on some bad things in western countries, this will make everybody's criticism on Putin invalid. I don't see how really, but that is what you try to make it look like :p
So just keep this in mind: the thread is not about western economic problems or their leaders, it is about YOUR (and our) opinion on PUTIN.

The fact you seem to get your panties in a twist just by reading our opinions and start rambling about the west is not helping what you are saying look more credible. That's some advice :) To be clear: this thread is about individual OPINIONS on PUTIN. Good luck with that!

    Yawn.

You know you could make Odon's posts almost enjoyable.

You calling my post pathetic is like Louis Spence saying something is " a bit gay".

Moving on, Putin inherited a tough hand, and turned Russia back into a dignified and restrained superpower on the World stage.
The smear campaigns are simply part of an American Neo Conservative agenda to cause mayhem around the World.

Putin stopped Bathouse Barry blowing Syria to smithereens, and Iran, amongst other places. So the infantile response is to portray him as a baby eater and such crap.
Sadly the people who keep badmouthing Putin know absolutely nothing about Russian, international or even US politics.

Putin enjoys very high popularity at home. Unlike every NATO leader. And if Russia wasn't led by Putin it would be a hardline Communist or Russian nationalist. Because many Russians, rightly perceive that America has deliberately harmed Russian interests without any justification whatsoever.

Ultimately, the "Putin is evil, Bush and Obama are great" routine is tedious and laughable. Its the pinnacle of geopolitical ignorance and stupidity.

I challenge anyone to point out something bad that Putin has done at home OR abroad. I can write a list a mile long about Cameron, Brown, Blair, Bush, Obama etc.

As far as I'm concerned, the only people who really have the right to pass judgment on Putin as a domestic President are those who are living in Russia currently.

As an international figure then, anyone (who can be bothered with the facts) is free to do so.

Russia needs a strong leader to sort out the "Shock Capitalism" mess that America introduced with the fuckwit Yeltsin. For shock capitalism read "corrupt oligarchs".
Its political system with Putin as head is the best system for Russia. Bearing in mind Federal Russia has only existed in its current form since 1991, Putin has made huge steps forward, and rightly enjoys popularity unheard of amongst western leaders. I'm not a Russian resident, but thats what my view would be, if I was.

As for intl issues, again he cant be faulted on anything. He rescued the people of the Crimea from American installed Fascist juntas, so congratulations on that one.
Likewise with S Ossetia/Abkhazia. I just wish he took a firmer had vs America/NATO after before they blew up Iraq, Libya, Afganistan etc. But either way, he always understands the long game, when most people (politicians included) struggle to even understand the short game.

Well isn't the Dutch head of state terrific. Yeah, the one that no one has EVER voted for.

I bet Putin is REALLY scared of your comments with his 62, 70 even EIGHTY percent approval ratings.
Perhaps you would prefer Zhirinovsky or Zyuganov instead? Not that those names would mean anything to you. Those are the nearest most popular rivals/alternatives.
Would be funny to your response to one of those two in power HAHA

Clearly you don't know the 1st thing about the Russian political system. But hey, don't let me stop you embarrassing yourself.

    As usual..

Putin to me is a Russian leader in the great tradition of Russian rulers, from Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great, Catherine (also the great), to Joseph Stalin.
The Russians are the Russians. They are not going to change into something else. They are simply not going to allow hostile or potentially hostile states on their borders. Given the loss of 20 million lives in WW II that isn't very surprising.

If you ask me - who will you trust, Obama or Putin, I'm afraid my American friends I have to say Putin.

  7. I just read that Putin is missing.

Putin is inscrutable. He knows every move you will make before you even think about it. He is pure muscle macho man from head to toe, but he has a tender side that very few have seen. He likes to ride his horse and look out over wide open valleys at sunset. He dotes on his daughter and his favorite thing to do is to play catch in the backyard with his son. He's an easy man to demonize because he is so earnest, yet there is good cause to fear him if you are his enemy. Overall, one of the most intriguing characters of the 21st Century.

    Well said. Thats basically it.
If Putin sold Russia's oil and gas industry to Obummer for a $1, then sent Russian soldiers to obey NATO orders bombing Iran, the US press would give Putin a Nobel prize.

But he won't. So we read a constant stream of propaganda against him in the British, US, infact ALL the NATO press.
I mean in Britain, loads of our politicians are homosexual paedophiles. But they've got away with THAT for decades.

Yes, I think that's a good way to see him. As a human being, I like him. And it doesn't surprise me that many Russians feel that Putin has given them back some pride after the disaster of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the chaos of the Yeltsin years.

I think he's phenomenally smart, and massively driven. Doubtless he has a firm edge, but only because he feels he needs to have it. Ultimately, he could live like a king or a playboy and never worry about a thing. But I think he genuinely feels a sense of duty and obligation. Thats inherited from the Communist era, I'm not sure a Capitalist system could even create that in someone. Compare that to Britain's self serving scum who get thrills out of sexually abusing children and racking in the cash with American arms companies. And America's well.. I won't even start.

When he laughs its like you can see him releasing all the troubles of the World that have been on his shoulders.

I remember seeing a video of Putin addressing some young kids about the importance of not abusing your body with drugs and stuff. It had rappers, hiphoppers and breakdancers on the stage. He looked very shy, and naturally a little ungainly, but you could see he really wanted to do it. The kids absolutely loved it, IMO. And while it looked unusual to western eyes, you could see and feel a type of unity there. You could never achieve that in the West, with our political systems. Again, I think that feeling of community is a hangover from the Soviet era.

It's a disgrace that the British people have been hoodwinked by people who are corrupt idiots at best, and the most vile perverts at worst.

Once we had good politicians, people like Bevin and Atley. Honest men who wanted to improve society. And they did it.

I expect Putin and his friends have a good laugh when they think about British politicians. How must Cameron appear to them? A fucking buffoon. Can you imagine the psychology between him and Putin?

British politics just sickens me. Me and the family have been friends with some (good and bad) for as long as I can remember.
Whats reported and what really happens are totally different. They're usually front men for other groups. And I've been saying for yrs how cabinets are riddled with paedos and homosexuals in sham marriages. And thats only a small part of it.

The biggest, most guilty mass murderer is allowed a fair trial free from media bias. But you can't have anything remotely near the truth in British political debate. So we keep having the same shit from government. Or should I say, "the Bullingdon Club"...

You could indeed say that despicable club, and in the same breath you could mention the City of London Corporation. That is if you want to pinpoint the power behind power......

It's a corrupt system where politicians are bought and paid for. It's not quite as explicit in the UK as in the USA, but it's the same story of corporate and banking interests etc being the puppeteers who pull the strings of tory and so called labour politicians alike (with one or two exceptions).

The whole thing of pedophile accusations is all true. Of that I'm quite sure. The problem is that while it's easy for the police to go after media celebs etc, it's much more difficult in the case of politicians. Cover ups have taken place. Thatcher is implicated. I hope one day it will all come out. Not just because I hold politicians in contempt, but because of the suffering and trauma of the victims of these bastards. Look at the Cyril Smith case. I think the bastard should have been publicly melted or something.

Hidden in plain view. The worst is that you could see these things even back when they were done. Savile, Hillsborough, that pervert Hague covering up the paedophile stuff in N Wales. Likewise that Janner guy ( a right creep, I knew him).

I think alot of it is the corruption of the class structure in Britain. They cover it up together, because they think that if one is found out, it harms them all.

Maybe the internet will change some stuff. But I agree with you, politics needs to be financed differently. Maybe more worker/consumer cooperatives funding one.

I dont think the average person actually understands how corrupt Britain is. Alot of these "power jobs", there's no pt even applying if you havent gone to Eton/Harrow or somewhere. Then you have the cops, and all the authorities taking orders from the Lodge etc.

The trouble is that the average person has been conditioned into not thinking for themselves, and certainly not to think in a critical way. The media push a basic agenda of acceptance of the system as it is, and also tells people what their opinion should be. It isn't a question of presenting news, so much as opinion about the news.

Who owns the media? We know who don't we. Whose interests do the media pursue? Again, we know the answer.
But unfortunately the majority of people are pretty much brainwashed. That's my opinion. It may seem harsh, but I am sure that it's the truth.

It sounds to me like you have an inside view to some extent. I too have had my dealings with those at the top of the pile in different contexts. My cousin was married to one of the Cadburys. I once worked for Lord Valentine Cecil. A toff moron of the finest upper class twit of the year variety. He had been an army officer, and had got himself captured by Ugandan forces during the time of Idi Amin when on exercise in Kenya. Evidently, the Uk govt kept the incident hushed up and paid a big ransom for the idiot. So his somewhat gin soaked old mother told me. :dizzy2:

    Vladimir Putin = John Gotti

They each have their strong points.

They each have their their following and their sycopanths.

Some people just love a strong man. But what of the endgame? What of history and ones reputation? What of God, and judgement, and the afterlife?

What of the average Russian schmo? how is he? and the price of his sausages?

Expecting lots of immigration to Brighton Beach.

One of the biggest differences between them seems to be that Obama expects everyone to believe his lies, while Putin doesn't give a shit if you believe his or not.

Obama has been a big disappointment. When he first got in I did believe that maybe we'd see some positive changes, and maybe some of those in US foreign policy.
I know he's had to face huge opposition and racism, but he seems to have just carried on the same overall approach, and has IMO made several bad calls on the middle east.

So I see him in a way (although I don't like to quote the Bible) as a wolf in sheep's clothing. At least with Vlad what you see is more or less what you get.

I think we're going a bit wrong here. Can't people give their opinion about Putin without comparing him to Obama?

Maybe they are both not trustworthy, but for different reasons. For one, what Obama says and promises can not be fully trusted because he doesn't control the majority of his government, with Putin it seems rather the opposite.
We could go on with this in depth but I would rather just see people say what they really think of Putin. Without them reacting completely ridicilous about other people's opinions and criticism on Putin.

Iamnotaman: just because western media GENERALLY paints a onesided picture of Putin (nobody was denying that), does not mean our opinions are only based on that.

about you asking for examples of why Putin sucks as a government, I already stated 2 issues: oppression of media, news and journalism and oppression of political opposition.

You can state hilarious and irrelevant things about dutch or other goverment (not sure for what purpose, I gues you think it makes Putin looks better) and project on us that we are brainwashed, but such reactions say more about you than us. You seem also to get your panties in a twist when anybody states the fact that russian media is not free from publicing what they want without risking serious danger. It's like you want to deny that?

I'm sure he played whatever ' Russian-type game' it took to get where he is ,just as our "leaders" played the american-type game to get where they are. Those that rise to "THE TOP" here, there and just about everywhere else have to play their game the way they determine to be in their best interests. As we've seen and continue to see on a daily basis--lying, cheating, killing and
just plain dominating others is methodically played out on the world stage by many "leaders." No big deal there. The games the powerful play are always rigged in their favor. After all--they control
their respective media outlets,(to one degree or another), have made the right money connections and continue in the grand tradition of living the high life to which regular citizens
NEVER have access. I don't give a shit about Putin or Obama either , for that matter. They are temporary. There are always more JUST LIKE THEM waiting to fill their spots. How does Putin, who is reportedly a billionaire get all that loot? Same as they all have done and will continue to do on and on and on, including here.

I'd be interested in voting for Warren and Sanders, but that will never happen. Too much corporate interest in play to allow it. I'm very disappointed in Obama. Thought perhaps he would be more radically socialist as concerns the ridiculous medical system we have and the education system that leaves those lucky enough to EVEN GET TO COLLEGE--OWING THOUSANDS and thousands.

Wonder what the price of rice in China happens to be.
