But none of my friends are into it. No one I know around my area even listens to punk rock, and the ones who do are those kinds of "OH MY GOD MAN BAD RELIGION IS PUNK NOFX IS NOT PUNK THEY'RE POP SHUT UP POSEUR" kinds of guys.

Anyway, what's the best way to get a good punk band together? Anyone around NE-NC like punk? I'm a guitarist, my biggest influences are:

    NOFX
    Bad Religion
    Fifteen
    Flogging Molly
    Nirvana
    Metallica
    Anthrax
    Offspring
    Zero Down
    Hank Williams
    Johnny Cash

Random other punk bands that were around the west coast, like Agent Orange and such bands. Yes, I know some of those artists weren't punk, deal with it. There's more than one genre of music, you know.

TL;DR, best way to find band members with similar music tastes?

    Really??
Skater punk is just barely distinguishable from pop punk.
Bulletins at local colleges, signs on poles, that sorta thing are all that I can think of.

Try the classifieds, some people put ads their for bands, or you can try online.

Have you tried craigslist? If you do I suggest making an account with an different e-mail other than your personal one in case of spammers or weirdos, but it might yield some results. Good Luck! :)

I found one of my bands through craigslist...I put it out there that when I sing, it sounds like Jesus is descending naked raining well-heard orgasms all over the land...I got a response in less then an hour and BAM! I'm the lead singer of a shitty band!

Ah gotcha. Yeah I reallly dig the old AFI from back in the day. Big fan here! But I never really got in to their newer stuff. Not that it's not good or anything, I just never really got in to it.
