    Today is the anniversary of Friedrich Nietzsche's birth. 166 years ago today.

    Nietzsche appreciation thread I guess.

    While I do consider him to be brilliant and before his time, it is really sad the way it all ended for him.

    Maybe that star shone too bright to stay longer?

    It was sad.

    He, like Charles Darwin, was lucky in that he was so motivated to work despite poor health throughout his life.

    His genius can be especially appreciated considering the short windows of time in which he worked on his writing, while the rest of his time was spent suffering from debilitating health problems.

    'Human All Too Human' is a great example of this.

    i mean i guess this thread is worth something. i enjoy nietzsche but i don't care about the dates that 99% anyone were born on and i do not want to celebrate most for their birth lol.

    It if anything was more of an excuse for a Nietzsche appreciation thread.

    If you'd like you can celebrate his mustache. It looks like it took a lot of dedication.

    Or perhaps none, as he could have just let it grow.

    Probably something along the lines of;

    "It is each man's own innate ability to assert his will upon his face. The extension of man's motivation to assert this will shall reach out of his upper lip and extend over his chin so as to never take it on the chin ever again."

    In the photos taken during his last sick years his mustache grew to epic proportions.

    lol. Bloom? That's funny.

    It must be a thing intelligent men are just in on. Many had a lot of hair/facial hair. For example;

    Socrates

    Jesus

    Charles Darwin

    Jiddu Krishnamurti

    what lacks in those people you posted is interesting facial hair, so i cannot level them with neitzsche. possibly darwin but that is only because i bet it only took him 2 weeks to grow that.

    True...

    You've reminded me of something. Last night I was out and I saw a gentleman, probably in his early to mid fourties with a Hitler/Chaplin mustache and I thought to myself, "What a bold man!"

    It takes nuts to wear that stache.
