I was discussing with another group about why we don't see african americans in public as often as whites. According to the group I was discussing this with, they would love to see more blacks out more and they didn't know why. I've told them that I have many black and hispanic friends and they do prefer to keep it in their home. A couple of days ago, I was talking to a black woman who ask me what she can do for husband for their anniversary. She told me that they travel and have just about everything that they want. So I went on a whim and said " Why don't you fix him a meal and treat him extra special that day, nude." She looks at me and said that wasn't good enough to do. I look at her weird and said that every guy would love that. She said tht she already does that and that was the norm and she never wear clothes at home. I said "I don't know what you can do for your husband. Daily, you are giving him a wonderful gift." I'd told her that she needs to write a book about pleasing your husband and feeling good about yourself. I'd told her that she could help others. She told me that she didn't want to do that. I told her that many blacks don't do that. She also told me that she has several black female friends that are nude in their house all the time too.

So I'm guessing there's a "secret society" that we don't know of.

I know many of my hispanic friends say that their household is very open to nudity. Escpically with the females.

What do you guys think about this?

Generaly in modern Hispanic culture (as in people like 30 and under) yes, nudity is no big deal. if you turn on some Spanish channels they will even have non sexual nudity uncensored.

It's only within the "older generation" that nudity is frown upon.

This may not be politically correct but being a middle age white male that grew up during de-segregation and sterotypical southern living patterns I long to see nude black women.

A couple of my close friends in HS were black, I was somewhat ostracized by some of my peers for it but these were my friends, I'd visit their house and vice versa. A couple were really cool guys, they'd go to the lake with me and a few of my white friends, we'd see each other nude as we changed but no different than gym in HS. But let me tell you the first time I saw a black guy nude in the HS gym shower was weird. Just something I'd never seen or thought of before.
You have to remember the times these were in the South.

One friend was this really hot Cheerleader girl. For some reason she and I clicked in HS as friends. We almost dated after HS but after having lunch together a few times and after all the whispers and stares we decided we shouldn't.

Anyway, seeing a nude black woman is still a rarity for Southern white men and something I wish could change. The few nude beaches I've gone to haven't had black men or women, and even local strip clubs have very few black women.
I think their bodies are exotic and erotic looking.

Yesterday I was pumping gas and this georgous black woman that works there was walking the pumps checking the trash cans and windshield wash supplies. She no doubt notice my intense gaze as I couldn't help but watch her as I would any attractive woman. As she went past me I said hi, she smiled back and I noticed she started swinging her hips just a tad more than she was before.
All I could think was I'd love to see her nude.

I don't know about nudity, but where I live there are pretty well now more black people and other coloured individuals than there are white people.

English here. Can I ask a silly question? What has the colour of ones skin got to do with nudity? Is it the perceived idea that the 'black' is defined as tribal and not 'civilised enough' to wear clothes: or is it based on 'anti-nudity beliefs like the moslems'.

Accepting that religious belief and social conditioning plays a part in nudity I am unsure if I understand what colour has to do with it. In a multiracial society we are all textile or nude (perhaps both). Can we section out a prejudice to nudity ethnicity? :)

I'd say the original thread question has more to do with modern culture, not tribal or religous.
Take NASCAR racing, a dominate sport in the Southern US which has a huge black population, but 95% of race attendees are White.
So, based on that I'd say nudist are predominately white and that's why you don't see many black nudist. It's just not their thing.

    Why? Not a freakin clue.

I can't speak for the US- here in the UK there are black nudists where the nudist resorts, saunas are near to places with a sizeable black population.

In Australia, there are aboriginals who are nude a lot of the time in remote outback settlements — not so common in the tourist traps like Alice Springs or the Kimberley. The colour of aboriginals is not uniform: it varies from chocolate brown to quite black to a paler brown around central Australia. In their far-flung settlements where home is a tin shed and companionship is alcohol, a great many of the familial and detached mobs are like that. I guess with so many other severe health problems (kidney disease, diabetes, cataracts, blindness, skin cancer and infections) nudity is one of the very few things they have that doesn't warrant seeing a doctor (assuming one is reachable).

Being a barefoot, naturist (nudist) african,as having been born in africa, nudity was common. Kids up and untill the age of 11 - 13, grew up naked, going about their everyday issues naked, the naked boys cattle herding, the naked girls gathering water, thrashing corn etc. CERTAIN MID AFRICAN tribes,e.g. MAHIMBA ,practiced nudity as a general lifestyle. Around the epuator, some stil practice it,and males wear penis sheathes, leaving their scrotums exposed. At traditiional black weddings, the males wear loin cloths or karosses, and the females, young and old are bare breasted, both sexes barefoot. In some rural areas, the kids stil live, play and help in the nude, men wear karosses, and females are are bare breasted..,BUT,as with all things, westernization ruined innoscence with their stupid sneaker revolution (almost destroying barefoot walking) , and egocentric fashion influences to boost persönal and corporate wealth,at the cost of hundreds...nay,thousands of years of nude cultures. PORNOGRAPHY REDUCED the innoscence of the naked human form to smut and filth! NUDITY has become shamefull and viewed as immoral. In african tratdition, the body was reverred, and honoured and proudly exhibbeted, virgins danced proudly, now, due to western influence, barefoot children are forced to wear shoes, nudity is bad, primitive and impropper, and teen sex...how many times i can get laid b4 13 is the new pride! BECAUSE western culture made nudity cheap and whorish, blacks have to much pride to become cheap, and I,kaalvoet,am a white male feeling this way....just imagine how the original "african-black-african " must feel!

In the UK at the few places where you can be nude in public, there are black women and men just as much as you would see in the general population. Not so common in clubs though.

This is one piece of the answer.
In the US, people from Africa were enslaved, and the owner-class whites and Native Americans owned the very privacy of Africans and their descendants.
The southern white dude sexualizing black women as things for him to see is a big reason nudism isn't accepted in communities of color.

Unfortunately, I do think it's common for black people to say to one another or think it to themselves, ""Black people don't do that". It's probably a hangover from when segregation was enforced with violence, and even if we've moved away from that, we just aren't socializing comfortably yet. I'm in an environmental/outdoors organization, full of good liberals who'd love to see everyone out enjoying hikes and canoe trips, but it's rare to see any faces except white ones. People sometimes mention it, but they just shake their heads and say "You can't force anyone". It's a legacy of tragedy that goes back a very long way.

As for fetishizing black women, I claim to be innocent. If I were single, I don't think race would be what made me think (or not think!) a woman was attractive. I believe Shale doesn't make his pictures viewable any more, but there was one really striking one of him with former partner Brenda, who was black. Well, you just had to see it while you could.

Don’t take this wrong, but when I was in armed forces, I invited a black friend (among others) to visit nudist resort. He responded, ‘what am I going to do, get a suntan’. Funny looking back on that.

It has a lot to do with the perception that social nudity is a "white thing."

My first wife is African-American (I'm biracial) and that was her perception. And it was mostly based on fact; as the nudists we met along the way were all Caucasian. And at all the nudist resorts/clubs we visited (SC, VA and GA), she was always the ONLY black female in attendance. That made her self-conscious; as she was very aware of her "distinctive" presence at these venues. Luckily we were embraced by the nudist community, and my wife was able to get comfortable socializing nude. But she was definitely noticed. She found the confidence to accept and get comfortable with it; but she certainly remained an "unusual sighting" at the venues we visited.

I don't think we'll see a minority population at nudist resorts - representative of the general population - any time soon. This enduring idea that social nudity is "for white people" is going to be very hard to break. I find it unfortunate.
