Meme was a term coined by Richard Dawkins. Go read some of his books and learn about the real concept of meme. The fact that most of the memes you'll find on the internet are stupid photos/videos/whatever doesn't mean that the meme is just crap. It's an interesting concept and worth some serious consideration. Go read about it.
This really needed to be said here. I don't think anyone here understands the concept of a meme. I don't have a lot of respect for memetics, but it certainly goes a lot deeper than DO NOT WANT.
