"Fascism" - Definition: A system of government that flourished in Europe from the 1920s to the end of World War II. Germany under Adolf Hitler, Italy under Mussolini, and Spain under Franco, were all fascist states. As a rule, fascist governments are dominated by a dictator, who usually possesses a magnetic personality, wears a showy uniform, and rallies his followers by mass parades; appeals to strident nationalism; and promotes suspicion or hatred of both foreigners and “impure” people within his own nation, such as the Jews in Germany, for example. Although both 'Communism' and 'Fascism' are forms of 'Totalitarianism', Fascism does not demand state ownership of the means of production, nor is Fascism committed to the achievement of economic equality. In theory, Communism opposes the identification of government with a single charismatic leader (the “ cult of personality”), which is the cornerstone of Fascism. Whereas Communists are considered left-wing, Fascists are usually described as right-wing. Note : Today, the term "Fascist" is used loosely to refer to military dictatorships, as well as governments or individuals that profess racism and that act in an arbitrary, high-handed manner. (Source: The American Heritage® New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition Copyright © 2005 by Houghton Mifflin Company.) "Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity, quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace." ...... Benito Mussolini, Italy In his closing argument in the trial for the assassination of American President John F. Kennedy, attorney Jim Garrison offers his evaluation about the rise of Fascism in the United States. Here's what he said: "What is the future of a Democracy when a President can be assassinated under conspicuously suspicious circumstances while the machinery of legal action scarcely trembles? What kind of National Security removes the fundamental powers from the American People and permits the ascendency of invisible government in the United States? That kind of National Security, gentlemen, is: when it looks like it, smells like it, and feels like it, you call it what it is: Fascism. I want our country back. Because it still belongs to us. The truth is the most important value we have. If the truth does not endure; if the government murders truth - then this is not the country I was born in, and not the country I want to die in." ....... Jim Garrison, JFK Trial, February 28th, 1969

"The purpose of the government is to protect the privacy, liberties, and freedom of the American People - not to protect the secrecy of the government; not to meddle in the affairs of other countries; not to intrude upon the lives of Americans; and not to tell us how we ought to live."

.......
