Nude models are necessary if an art student intends to draw the body in their career.
I applaud people willing to do it. No controversy as far as I am concerned.
Hopefully no one has had anything but good experiences with it in a classroom setting.
While I have no objection to commercial nude photography, it can get posted all over the Internet and you have to decide if that harms your career chances. It shouldn't but our society has some room for improvement in how it perceives the body in its natural state.

I recently posed nude for a fellow amateur artist. Found it quite a fulfilling experience and would happily do it again. Also found that it wasn't as hard as I had thought to hold the same pose for 20-30 minutes - providing you start with a sensible pose of course.

When I was in college I posed nude for a number of friends and some of them also posed for me. I was not an artist, just took a couple of classes and enjoyed drawing. Since college I have posed (nude) for a couple of friends.

And then there are all the nude photos my husband and I have taken of each other. LOL!

would like to model nude, I would feel comfortable that my skin and my body is represented in a work of art as such, clothes is not part of me.

I did some nude modeling for a friend's photography project. There were 3 different shoots

    1. 9 ft albino burmese python on me and me holding apple

The python was incessantly poking my but with the pointy tip of her tail which was really uncomfortable and she got a little snug against my neck, not squeezing, but I was hot under the lights and she was a pet not heavily trained

    2. Me painted with blacklight paint and photographed under blacklight

I was mildly concerned about the safety of the paint since it was All Over my body

    3. Covered in clay

The clay dried and cracked and pulled at my skin

Both the paint and the clay took quite some time to apply and I hadn't realized how difficult it was to get into and hold a pose

Despite the fact that I've only listed the things that were uncomfortable, the experience was really cool and I don't really have any complainants

Thanks for sharing this nice creative experience! I just searched the "Art" sub-forum, photography section... and there was no thread on such kind of photography... pity, really.

I very much like that sort of nude photography with artistic manipulation - not of the finished image, but on the model. Objects like flowers, herbs or putting a model in a rock and water surrounding, paint his or her body with mud, rubbing moss onto the body, make the model lie down on a rock, drape a few pieces of bark and a couple of leaves... ah, well, that would be my creative idea.

I had some regular art sessions where I modelled nude.

I was introduced to nude modelling when a friend whom I didn't know modelled nude asked me if I'd be interested to take his place at a drawing session so he could attend to some urgent family matters. He knew I was inclined to nudity, but I haven't modelled nude before until then. I thought it'd be fun to try it out, so I agreed.

The instructor was a cheerful guy. When he knew it was my first time, he did everything to make me comfortable and prep me for the experience. When I told him not to worry, I was looking forward to it, he switched to a "So I see" mode.

For the first session, he introduced me to the class first, then asked me to disrobe and pose. During the break, he'd pass me the robe to put on.

Once he saw I wasn't perturbed by being nude, he'd have me strip naked (to get rid of any welts from clothes) when I arrived and have me wait for the students to arrive without any cover - and I was to stay uncovered until it was time to go. We'd chat and have a snack with me nude until the class is ready to start. For me, it felt really good to be nude, and I didn't complain. As it happened, the students liked it too. Some of them came in earlier in subsequent sessions and even joined us for the drink/snacks. I didn't drink during those times - I didn't want unscheduled toilet breaks to disrupt the class.

The really fun part was that I was the only one nude in a room of over ten people, and all eyes were on me. The really tiring part was having to hold positions for bout 15 to 20 minutes at one go. Each session was about one hour to 90 minutes. I had to be there at least 20 minutes before the class started (to let the welts disappear, according to him).

I became a regular nude model there until the instructor moved away.

I used to do a lot of nude modelling for art classes until one day I had to do a session with a naked female. Unfortunately she remarked at my rather large penis which caused me to have an erection. Unfortunately the art teacher wasn't impressed and asked me not to model any more as the students had seen more than was expected. It wasn't all bad though as I subsequently went out with the girl I had posed with and the sex was great.

Nude modelling is actually more difficult than it seems. The main issue is maintaining the same pose for a long length of time. Another is keeping awake. Being able to draw the human figure is a crucial skill taught at art schools and nude modelling is essential to this. There tends to be more female than male models for reasons that are not very clear, hence male models can get plenty of work in NZ. Generally there is one model posing, but sometimes there are two, that is a male and female together. Sessions are two hours. A friend of mine who did nude modelling recently. He found there was an erotic effect and had a limp erection. He was allowed to photograph the drawings, which he showed me. The standard of the works were very high and each artist had a slightly different approach. Some drawings were abstract and others exact. What you get is a representation of the human form. The best drawings were from the combined session, with a female model.

Have alot of respect for the human form. always admiring the photography work in penthouse. I read the articles too....very classy.
Why are the models so pretty, none of them look like jabba the hud.
Real artist just go to the red-light district to sketch, just my conclusion.
Seriosly,I am a nudist sometimes but wonder about some peoples motives....when I hang out with my friends or tribe n we trip & have a drum session....Everyones naked.
So why ist the artist naked? sounds like some sort fake modeling agent without a hidden camera; "Hold still and let me just sketch that real quick"

I'm an Amateur photographer, and I take quite a bit of nude photographs. I say amateur because even though I've sold some of my work, I don't make a living on it.

The best advice I can offer is to get to know the photographer a little bit. If you get bad vibes, back out. If the vibes are good, ask to see some of his/her work. If you like what you see, proceed. Also, if you don't know the photographer that well, make sure you can bring a friend as support. If the photographer says No, walk away.

It's not that difficult to model nude, as long as you can follow directions fairly decently. I like to get feedback, so I always ask the model what was the most difficult part of the shoot, and believe it or not, most say putting their clothes back on. It can be a very freeing experience. I know, as I've model nude myself a few times. I'm one of those photographers who won't ask someone to model unless I'm willing to do it myself.

After an experience a few years ago when I was nude modelling for an art class and had an erection so gave it up, a couple of weeks ago I started modelling again, after which when all the students had left, the teacher asked me if I would be interested in some porn work. I wasn't sure but I have another session with him next week and after telling my wife about it, she convinced me to give it a try but only if she could come and watch. I'll post later how I got on.
