I gotta agree, there's not alot of pop country I like.anymore, most singers don't even write their own songs.watch a vid on cmt,& under the artists name you'll see songwriters names.I can't say I don't like any pop country,I do love garth, reba, martina mcbride,& a few others.but I mostly like the old stuff, where it's real.give me some hank,1,2 or 3,waylon,willie,george,or some david allan fuckin coe & I'll be crankin it & beatin back some brewskies
I LOVE country music. I think people just stereotype it as this hillbilly genre, and it's really so much deeper then that. I'll listen to almost anything by Brad Paisley or Kenny Chesney.
I love country music. including old country, thanks to growing up on it. I come under the heading of Mandrel and Jones, I was country when country wasn't cool. The newer country is great as it brings a younger audience in. Lady Antebellum, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and many others are really great for country music. Old country is rather unbeatable though. Jim Reeves, Charlie Pride, Patsy Cline, George Jones, the list is endless. Like bluegrass as well. Right now Alison Krauss is putting out about the best that is. Lady has talent. I actually like just about any type of music, with the exception of Rap......maybe just haven't hit the right artists yet.
I've been a Merle Haggard fan for years. I like a lot of country artists, going back to Hank I, II & III, Patsy Cline, George Strait, Alan Jackson, George Jones, Dale Watson, EmmyLou Harris and many others, but Merle is the best. There was a 90 minute show about him last night on American Masters on PBS, and it was great! Are there any other Merle fans out there?
I understand what you mean by the old stuff beats the new stuff......I feel the same with Heavy MEtal....

George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Sr, Hank Williams Jr, Don Williams, Clint Black, Oak Ridge Boys, Johnny Horton, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, etc. Absolutely GREAT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERW8z8Y6MHk"]YouTube- George Jones - The Race Is On
