wow really digging this, thanks for the heads up Well in the 'off the top of my head' order, here it goes: the band, niel young, joni mitchel (because the last walts is forever ingrained upon my subconcious), the tragically hip, the guess who, gordon lightfoot, the rheostatics, bruce cockbourne (or however the fuck you spell it), blue rodeo (i'd go as far as saying they bear the torch of the canadian sound), cuff the duke, arcade fire, broken social scene, sam roberts, joel plasket bah damn; the list is too bloody long but I can now say, after living far to far away, and for far to long, from my native land that canada has a sound, it thrives, and these are but a few of musicians through which it is channeled
Didn't realise how many good ones are from Canada. Saw Arcade Fire on Austin City Limits a couple of nights ago. I was impressed at how they changed places on instruments,never missed a lick and I enjoyed them. It was hard to get a count of many were playing because of the way it was filmed--but it looked like 9 or 10.
