What are you listening to? Recently on National Public Radio I heard "Nessun Dorma," from Puccini's Turandot, sung by Luciano Pavarotti. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VATmgtmR5o4 English translation: No man will sleep! No man will sleep! No man will sleep! No man will sleep! You too, o Princess, in your virginal room, watch the stars trembling with love and hope! But my secret lies hidden within me, no one shall discover my name! Oh no, I will reveal it only on your lips when daylight shines forth! And my kiss shall break the silence that makes you mine! Nobody will discover my name And we shall have to die, alas! Die! Depart, o night! Set, you stars! Set, you stars! At dawn I shall win! I shall win! In Italian: Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! Dilegua o notte! Tramontate, stelle! Tramontate, stelle! All' alba vincerò! Vincerò! Vincerò!
Right now silence, but I was listening to Mozart's 'Symphony of the Toys'(?) which was 'neat-o'...and then I heard some Tschaikovshy which, rock god of the classical scene that he is, or was, I really dug. I think it was sleeping beauty or something less famous than Nutcracker and Marche Slave. or that 1826 cannons booming thing. Nothing fancy, or pretentious. And you?
right now im listening to Mozart's 36th symphony; the 4th movement presto. it's fucking unbelievable. at every turn every hair on your body will stand straight up...at full attention https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZR3vPZp-uA
its not bad...but not great. i wish he incorporated the plucking of the strings throughout this work a little more.
I see there are more Bach´s fans that I hope. My masterpiece of all days is Toccata and Fugue in D minor organ version. Such a psychedelic song!
