a better question might be: how long will there be a 'first' world distinguishable from 'third'?
no ideology can prevent a culture of thoughtlessness that hates logic, from imposing tyranny on itself.

i mean freedom doesn't come from people killing each other. it comes from people being considerate of each other.
eventually people ARE going to learn to remember this for more then a generation or two.

life on the other side of the looming environmental speed bump, just might be the boot to the head that will help us do so.
however many descendents of human d.n.a. might still be around to learn.

The third world is already skipping the industrial revolution phase and adopting the technological age at the same time we do. Much of the future will be determined by China who does everything based on 30 year plans. The west is gradually, but persistently going to have less which will most likely be blamed on politicians like Trump. As the world moves away from oil based economies, currencies backed by oil like the dollar will lose value to crypto currencies which are backed by electricity. For example, bitcoins have value, because the electrical energy it takes to provide a secure transaction is pretty large. Providing security can be done by anyone with a computer and it's called mining. Miners are rewarded with a transaction fee and a new bitcoin which is also how new bitcoins are added to the system. It's totally decentralized.

much of the third world is following america's big mistake of worshiping the automobile, but on the positive side is the growth of solar and wind,
and rather then wasting money they didn't have on stringing telephone land lines, they're going straight to erecting cell towers.
