Don't own a TV, have no desire to, and hopefully I never will.

It is kind of interesting to compare the younger generations (say born from 1984-2000) to the older ones (say born from 1950-1975) in their TV use. It seems the younger people find the internet FAR more interesting and the opposite is true with the older folks.

My parents and I constantly look at each other in confusion since they don't see why I rarely watch TV and am always on the internet. And I wonder how they can stand watching TV with the stupid advertising and boring programs while NOT getting on the internet except to look up things like bill payments.

I guess it is like the people who used to only listen to the radio and their children who started growing up with TV!

I only use my tv for watching films, I'm not interested in tv programs or watching all that depressing news on tv either. I much prefer to use the internet, at least then you use your brain a lot more than watching all that rubbish they show on tv.

  10. I've got my dead dad's TV. Pretty much all he left us. I get about five channels with an antennae and the only good thing that's ever on is Family Feud.

Right now a show called Crime Watch is on, which is all about people being murdered. Yep.

We have 3 tvs, none of them with a large screen. I might lose my mind if I didn't have that little bit of entertainment. :)

not technically accurate. a laptop/computer needs a TV receiver (tuner) that is not installed by default (maybe on some models it is) in order to actually be a 'TV set'. my Macbook Pro doesn't have a TV receiver, and is not a TV set.

and there's a difference between having a monitor for watching your films, and other video material, and actually tuning in on the TV channels and all their crap programs. watching TV is not the same as just watching individual films.

Yes I have a 50" that I use to hook up my laptop to. I only have 20 channels because I only use it to watch movies and do design work when I hook up a computer through the hdmi connection
