"hello" Any real jazz enthusiasts here?...
when you think jazz guitar you think....Wes, christian, django, gale, jordan, benson, hall. and many more that I doubt will even resonate. Now if any body can come up with the first names of these artists then perhaps they know what classic jazz is.

Jazz is many things my friend, those you mention were all great jazz musicians in their time, and now it is time for new jazz musicians to come about. Classic Jazz is,was, and always will be great. But so is a lot of other jazz

Scofield, Pass, Sete, Charlie Hunter and Andreas Kapsalis, Leo Kottke, are some of the most unique, original and technical jazz guitarists i know

Martin Taylor, Steve Vai, Buckethead, Joe Pass, Rusty Cooley, Shawn Lane, Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert. They are technically better than Django Reinhardt.

I can't say that I have a favorite, but some of my top picks are:

    Bill Frisell
    Django Reinhardt
    Joe Pass
    Grant Green
    John McLaughlin
    Charlie Hunter
    Wes Montgomery

My jazz guitar playing is generally more influenced by horn players.
