Yes The Onion is a satirical website. It takes current affiars, in this case evolution vs. ID (presumeably) and makes satirical articles about them. They did a very good one a few years back about the christian right going to the supreme court to get teh 2nd law of thermodyamics overturned.
Ha. I missed that one. The religious right has been using a tactic of picking on elementary schools and high schools hoping that the ruckus they start there will end up in the Supreme Court and that their views might actually be upheld. They've more or less been forced to use that tactic since no one in the science community will take them seriously (and with good reason). .
