Some folks will simply never make it to 'group.' Others, like myself, quit so they can find work. I hope these prove useful for anyone that may be looking.

    Rational Recovery

Different choice for atheists, agnostics, & anyone else for whom AA, & NA didn't work.
The guy looks nerdy... you can just purchase the book used like I did if needed.

    SMART Recovery
Another good resource for alternative thinkers.

    Sober Recovery Forums
Not for me, but may really help someone else out.

    Best wishes.

I need help im so confused and i really dont know what to do i try to deal with the problems of everyday life but sometimes trying isnt enough. for staters my mom is an alcoholic bless her heart she says she is goin to quit drinkin everytime she always says this is the last one i promise. which i smoke weed but had to stop because i went to jail because of my mom and now i see a therepist which isnt a a problem because he understands me a lot and he is someone to talk to. but before i stopped smoking weed everything seemed a lot easier. when my mom would leave after my stepdad went to work and stay out till four o clock in the morning i didnt worry about it now that i dont smoke i worry all the time im stressed out because of her and i dont know how to handle it. i tell my mom if i can quit smoking you can quit drinkin and she says that i dont understand but what she doesnt realize is that i really do. i LOVE pot. i love the smell i love everything about it, and to be honest if weed was a guy i would marry them, and my mom she smoked weed hell shes smoked with me, but i hated sharing with her, not because im a stengie person, but because i knew she didnt enjoy it she took it for granted, and i hate that. im like my dad he loves weed to but he works in the oil field so he cant smoke but he told me that when he retires hes gonnna start cheefin again. im a smoker not a drinker my mom is the drinker and i hate that, but its not that i hate all people that drink, i drink too but i dont act like she does she acts stupid and i mean who wakes up in he morning and pisses on the floor of the bedroom and then tries to blame it on the dog. when the dog never goes in there. i quit smokin pot the twenty-third of august and i seriously cry because im not high. i did however find pot in my room and i did smoke that once but i mean why let it go to waste. and since i had not smoked in a while i was stoned and i wept the entire night because i was so greatful that i was high, i dont understand i dont sell crack cocaine to little kids i dont kill people im a happy stoner i smoke my weed and im happy i just wish that everyone would quit bitchin at me because i smoke a natural herb that comes from the ground that i know god had to put here because the devil couldnt have made something so wonderful. would really appreciate it if you replied and told me your thoughts on the matter thanx a whole bunch.

I have tried a lot of prescription anti depressants and none of them work for me like pot does. I wish pot was a lot more accepted than it is. I'd be more concerned about the effect your mother's problems with alcohol are having on you than your using marijuana. She is an important person in your life and she needs help that you can't give her. It must be frustrating. There are groups that are for the family of alcoholics that you might get support from. Look up alanon or alateen.

    Scattered in the fire
Is where my soul does lie
    Burned by greedy flames
    Waiting there to die
    Becoming black and crisp
    Brittle and broken still
I threw it in with rage
    Only wanting to kill
    The pain of waking up
    And dreading every day
I knew it would be best
    To throw it all away
    My cold lonely tears
    Slowly drown this hole
    But it won't fully fill
For I have lost my soul
