O, I just discovered The Smiths so seeing their huge loyal following is still something that's new to me. The song How Soon is Now? has so captured me. I think all their songs are to die for but when I listen to that song it puts me in a trance-like state and I just forget everything. If this song can help me this much I know others of theirs have gotten you people through rough patches so tell me what's your favorite Smith's song? Or Better yet which Smith's song got you through high school?

Morrissey's voice is beautiful, his lyrics are beautiful, the music is beautiful... All in all, a beautiful band! I love the song Cemetry Gates. That whole album, "The Queen Is Dead", is one of their bests.

Please Please Please let me get what i want is grand - a good song as well as featuring in many hillarious 80s movies...

The Boy With The Thorn In His Side is great too, and so is Girlfriend in a Coma

How soon is now is a pretty good song, but it tends to ramble on and on. Being not a big Smith's fan, or a Morrissey fan, it's probably the only one of theirs I know well. There's a version of it I really enjoy, which was done by the Russian girl duo Tatu and produced by Trevor Horn. Nobody seems to know about this cover of the song. Their voices are much higher and the song has more energy, especially the unique guitar riff that defines the song

I just recently started enjoying the Smiths as well. All of a sudden they're speaking my language. I really like "Panic".

morrissey and the smiths are amazing. i pretty much like every song. but i suppose by morrissey it would be now i am a was and by the smiths i'd chose panic. however this changes around frequently.

I love `There Is A Light That Never Goes Out`, the lyrics are beautiful.

I like `The Boy With The Thorn In His Side` too

I think Morrisey's voice can be quite haunting at times, its so different and pained.

How soon is now is a good song but my favouties are Handsome Devil, This Charming Man and Everyday Is Like Sunday. I've only heard about a dozen of their songs, I'm going to but an album when I can afford to, any recommendations?

Morrissey's voice is horrible! Such a shame because the music the Smiths made is good and I would be a huge fan if they would have had another vocalist.

1)There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
    2) Rusholme Ruffians
    3) Cemetary Gates
    4) Ask
    5) What Difference Does It Make?

I can't pick just one. I can't really pick just five.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "Asleep", its sweet and hauntingly mellow with suicidal overtones - gorgeous song.

'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' is incredible, but 'How Soon Is Now' is extraordinary (don't know how Johnny Marr can play that.) I also love 'What Difference Does It Make?'
