I was just wondering, how do all of you other animists out there practice your animism? I usually go on hikes, dance around bonfires, engage in ethogenic rituals, and participate in some native creamonies namely the seven souix ceramonies.....I'd love to hear from anyone
Um, Devin, it's "entheogenic" (unless you are indeed referring to narrative social psychology, which based on the context in which you use the word, you are not)....I don't mean to be the grammar and spelling nazi, but you've made this mistake in several of your posts and it bugged me and made you seem very novice. Well, I guess due to your age you ARE novice, but just sayin'. Sorry.
oh, and there's only one correct way of spelling "ceremony"...and "sioux"...learn the basics and everything else will fall into place and people will accept your credibility to a much greater degree.
Right on Heron! Sweat lodges are my favorite, I've only been to one though. It was still a meaningful experience
I would LOVE to find a sweat lodge...I wonder how hard one would be to construct...then you guys could all come to my place and we could have a cool little hip fest/sweat/smoke/drum and all those good things.
A guy I was working with in the bush this summer went to a sweat lodge, however, he'd unwittingly gotten into a fair bit of poison ivy, and the oils spread to every part of his body. He ended up in the hospital for a couple weeks, all bloated and blistered.
O_O wow that sucks for real. i love to take a walk and just see beautiful things really enjoy things small things that most dont see. also the bond fire thing is amazing too!
sweats are a SACRED rite......each family has their tradition, and it is easy to violate them, even if you feel you are honoring them. You can look up places that hold an "All Nations" sweat.....if you are not part of a family, you are only allowed to participate in an all nations lodge. I have only been able to take part in two of the seven rites of the Lakota (Sioux) Pipe and Sweat....and I feel very lucky to have been a part of them each time
i definitely go on hikes as much as i can and think a lot, smoke, and like whoever said take some entheogens and dance and stuff and just live life and wonder
I take quiet walks outside stopping often to admire the beauty, watch wildlife, and to silently pray. Camping is good for the soul.
I like, to take myself, in to altered states and also psychedelics are important... I contacting with spirits, and with everything... Meditating... Oh! and every on you who want to go in to a sweet lodge welcome to Finland, in here we "sauna" all day long... And drink beer!
Well, mr heron! Come here! I warm up the sauna! Right now, I am, warming my amanitas! I did collect like half kilo of them!
