He was an interesting fellow. A guy I used to know was the naval member of his honor guard-he used to stand just a few feet from Selassie with a bayoneted rifle-he got political asylum here after Selassie was assasinated. A pompous fellow, but also a devout Orthodox Christian-in many ways I think he was a good man. "The Lion of the Tribe of Juda" (a term referring to Christ!) and "Emperor" of Ethiopia (which wasn't an Empire!). I get the impression that he was a well-meaning fellow that could barely walk for all the medals on his chest. I'm not an expert on Ethiopia, but those are my reflections. I saw a book of biblical commentary that he wrote a few years back in the library. A very interesting fellow.
