Reading the thread about the death penalty made me think about a show i saw a week ot two back about chain gangs. A few of years ago a number of states re-instated the use of chain gangs, such as AL, AZ and FL. It seems the modern chain gang are compromised of inmates who are not considered an escape risk or extreme violent criminals. They volunteer for chain gang duity to be relieved of lockdown punishment for some kind of prison rules violations. There are male and female chaingangs. Thier work consist of road work, picking up garbage from roadsides, to burying bodies of transiants. So good thing? bad thing?
I'd rather see my tax dollar go towards seeing criminals work rather than sit in a cell all day watching satellite tv on my buck.
