When I was eighteen I got severely stoned one night and lay in bed wearing headphones, teetering on that tightrope between sleep and wakefulness...the only thing that kept pulling me back was Meddle by the Floyd. A song would play and I'd listen to it in a kind of trance, with no concious thought whatsoever, just the music...and in between tracks I'd slip further into unconciousness only to reawaken a little when the next one started.



When the last track, Echoes, came on I was further into this trance than anytime previously, and that first piano-through-a-leslie-speaker-so-it-sounds-like-a-sonar note played and even though I knew the song in and out I was caught completely off-guard I was so monged. I just got this wave of pure pleasure all the way down my spine, like an orgasm in the backbone but multiplied by about 1000...best moment of stonedness I have ever experienced. Similar things have happened since but never with the same propensity.

 

floyd used to put me to sleep to man. I remember playing dark side after meddle and i would be practically asleep by "time", and by the time the clocks started goin crazy i would jump out of my socks from being so startled haha. Scared the shit outta me i was sleepin! lol
