generally you shouldn't. there's 3 situations where people embed youtube videos on hipforums: situation 1) when they create a new thread that has no OP, just a video that nobody watches. situation 2) when somebody creates a thread saying "post random shit off youtube" and then for the next 3 years a few people keep bumping that thread with videos that nobody watches. situation 3) when a question is asked or a post is made that can be best answered by referencing a youtube video, which nobody will actually watch. i'll admit that i'm occasionally guilty of situation 3, but i do find that to be the least inappropriate of the three, since it's just one post instead of a whole thread.
Situation # 2 is pretty close to the truth; just maybe I’ve watched 2 or 3 videos out of like a 1000 posted Hotwater
what if "every" post was a YouTube video ? you would have to watch all the videos before you could reply ... with a YouTube video.
some persons are guilty of posting too many youtube videos.....a persons opinion means nada if they post so many vids that they become meaningless....I skip those ones ''I listen to this shitty mainstream oldies crap radio station and now I will force y'all to listen to the crap they are playing by repeating the playlist in youtube videos in every motherfucking thread in this website'' rant over
The problem with videos is they take a lot of time to view, whereas a text post would only take seconds or a minute or two. This is an serious underlying issue for humanity. We are all becoming twitterized. People can't post more than 140 characters anymore it seems. With cellphones glued to their hands, and constant updates distracting them from the reality in front of them (some ppl even get run over walking while reading text msgs, not to mention car accidents!) People are quickly losing the art of conversation... This will alienate people even further, since all people want are text bytes, not deep explanations. So ppl become satisfied with short sound-bytes from their leaders, that really say nothing. We become quick to judge people based upon a few words they post. (We admins and mods have to do that every day!) It's sad, but rather than bringing us together, it seems the Internet is keeping many of us apart in a true social sense. It's all so superficial! Not to say there aren't things on the Internet that help humanity, but the long term effects have yet to be analyzed fully.
i watch most of vids posted in music threads...some for 2 seconds ..some complete (i skip ICP vids and country music completely though) its the best way to find new good stuff i probably never would have seen i come here to distract myself ...im not really interested in having conversations with strange weirdoes.. lmao
I also enjoy the music threads that mainly consists of youtube vids. I only click on a play when there's something interesting about it (comment of the person who posts it, familiar or intriguing name/starting image or the suspected genre). I rarely watch youtube vids in discussions, especially the lengthy vids. Partly because the people I'm talking with should be able to tell it to me, but also: I am generally just not in the mood or position for that when I'm in a deep convo with strange weirdos (I can really appreciate those convos) :-D Depending on the person I sometimes will later. Yeps, they just embedd automatically that way
brilliant answer... 4) Post a thread with what you think is amazing learning in a video and pray somebody, someone, somewhere actually watches and you change a life. lol that's how I see it, cos I want to post a video to a recent thread I made
