I'll be 30 in may... although my parents were in the hippy generation. hippies were total sellouts... did you pay attention to the 80's?! Way to go hippies. I think labels are total crap. I personally am not much of a protestor. I get it but it's not my thing. I do what I think is good for the world and that includes unplugging from most economic systems... most familial systems, all religious systems. It's all whatever. People call me a hippy. I think I'm more of a prippy, preppy hippy... or maybe a techno hippy cause I like technology. But yeah seriously, what are YOU doing xexon? I've dedicated my life to service. I'm curious about you.
it was just the most random thing ever and it made me choke on my delicious green tea, but it was worth it.
The original hippies were immitating beatnicks. (that's where the name hippy came from... the beatnicks called the immitators "hippies" because they were trying to be hip.) So if you're not at least 65 yrs old then you're not the "original" original hippy. The spirit behind it all is alive and well today, it's just that not many people get it or can connect with it. They may sense something but the heart of it eludes them, so they immitate the outer trappings in order to get a bit closer to the energy of "it".
and beatnics were just imitating black people. besides, I think the only true hippie to ever exist is olhippie54.
I don't know. Do you call a revolutionary a revolutionary after the revolution? or were they revolutionary? I don't think you would. And so it seems silly to call anyone a hippy, even the people that were involved themselves. xenon is right. we aren't hippies, but no one is.
