The Environment - otherwise we're all fucked.

Socialism - narrowing the wealth gap and giving the poorest decent education and a chance in life.

International Development - trade instead of / as well as aid to the poorest countries, taking down trade
barriers, the West can afford to be a little less rich for the sake of others not having to starve to death.

Foreign Policy - why the hell do we need to go to war so much? tackle the underlying issues without
blowing people to bits all the time.

Communities - we've become too individualistic and materialistic, what matters is people and human
relationships, social isolation is very destructive.

 

Out of 83 people who all clicked to look at this thread, only Joshua Tree, got it.

It's not just a matter of caring it's a matter of doing. Being the change you want to see in others. Helping others understand the nedd, whichever the need may be at the time.

To make the needed changes in the country/universe, there first has to be change in ones self., from the thinker to the doer. Ppl talk of fixin' this and that in society but very few step up and face the challenge of being the change themselves.

So the Who Cares , is a start in bringing thoes ones that do care in the same proximity of one another.

 

A theist mind set would express my aim as a desire to become putty in God's hands but since I do not ascribe to church based religion I'll stop short of saying that. My belief is that caring must begin with reconnecting to the community and exhibiting concern for other people- whether or not you know them personally.. Concerns for the environment, social and political justice, and the like will tend to follow once people begin to have concern for one another.

Money and possessions are spiritual traps if they become obsessions or addictions. The spirit that occupies the physical form has an identity apart from that form. Earthly possessions are connected to the physical form and not the soul/spirit so they are ultimately impermanent... and a fixation on accumulation of "stuff" is literally a dead end.

As for global issues... our failure (refusal?) to find out who our elected officials really are is likely at the root of failures in global diplomacy as the weak will and spinelessness cultivated by political systems that financially necessitate corruption expresses itself in the direction the world is headed. "Environment" and "social justice" become little more than buzz words to manipulate the masses and not real causes for those whose thirst for power is unquenchable.

With a ratio of 83-1- it's little wonder that so many feel so powerless.

i'm not a hippie at all

but the most important thing to me is to appreciate people - give everyone a chance

one of my best friends has learning difficulties. i met him the day he was getting out of a taxi with a bunch of 'friends'

whilst laughing they started pushing him around and walked into a bar leaving him stranded with a substantial fare he couldn't pay

i knew them from school. i helped with the fare and confronted them

they were pensive and apologetic... totally spineless. i got his money back

he has become a valued friend and he is the nicest guy i know probably - he is engaged now years later and i am set to be his best man

he is the purest friend anyone could have and i feel lucky to know him.

people see us together and now kiss his ass - he tells those who were the bullies to jog on

give everyone a chance - you might only get one.

 

Can't Rep You TIB Because It Appears I Need To Kiss Other Ass's Before I Can Kiss Yours Again....
