You can get very good quality for less. Lots of the more touristy places (like where most of those menus are from) will charge obscene prices because they know that people will pay it, in a lot of people's heads more expensive = better weed, little do they know... Places like Bushdoctor and other places charge 50eu for a gram of their top notch ice hash, it's a joke but plenty of tourists buy it because they think it'll be the best thing they've ever smoked in their life when there's amazing selections of grass and traditional hashes at their fingertips. Not seeing the forest for the trees. Having to go for all the most expensive types and not trying the other options. The best smokes with the nicest effects aren't necessarily the '1 hit and you're rendered spastic for hours' types, though they can be fun.

Lots of the smaller local places outside centrum you can pick up great stuff pretty cheap, it may not be all the famous 'brand names' you've heard of and there may not be a selection of hundreds of types but there's some unique strains from smaller growers that you may only ever lay your hands on once in your life.

Also have to remember europe is on the whole more expensive than North America in terms of day to living costs etc so the money is worth less to an individual. And you're paying tax to the dutch government on each purchase!

Also ive noticed that alot of the bud from canada is oranger than the shit ive seen from the US. The stuff from the US was good and crystally but i found canadian bud was covered in orange hairs while american was more green with crystals... I havnt had much bud from the US so i dun wanna make the generlisation but from what ive seen its true
