Your preferred way to Spend New Year's

Every year people ask me if I am going out for New Year's Eve. Every year the answer is no for I haven't done so in 20 years. Coming after Christmas I don't have the energy, money or desire for big plans.

So tonight and tomorrow I will celebrate with the 3 F's; Family, food and football.

Tonight we'll watch LSU vs Clemson, eat lots of finger foods and the remaining Christmas cookies. At 11:30 we'll put on ABC and watch the countdown in Times Sq. At midnight my wife and I will kiss and be in bed soon thereafter.

Tomorrow, more football, more food and will probably be in bed by the time the Rose Bowl ends (~9pm EST)

How does everyone else celebrate?

 

Out to a fancy schmancy restaurant with the crew. Have a few drinks. Only 1 or 2 for me. Home early and work on New Years Day.

 

My hubbie works today and tomorrow. I don't know what we're doing, if anything..

 

I am going to grill a steak and bake a potato watch a little TV and go to bed.

sleep...wake up...wash up...surf the internet..do a bit of work..surf the internet...do some more work..surf the internet....eat a good meal ...surf the internet..then go to bed..and surf the internet...then fall asleep

 

Used to spend it hunched over the thunder mug seeking a Buick! No more. Now I watch the others suffer.

 

I had a BBQ with friends then went home early, watched a movie and went to bed after midnightl.

 

The past few years I've went camping for new years. This year I have a baby so I'll be staying in with my little family. We might get some champagne but I don't know if we'll be able to stay up until midnight Lol. A baby will make you old and boring

 

I'm just chilling taking it easy, my friends are gone partying. i'm having a quite night.

I have to work tonight... so that is how I will be celebrating my New Years. Last year I was off and alone.

All the moronic drunken ritual surrounding New Years is stupid. I don't need an excuse to get super fucked up, and I think getting fucked up just because we're going into a new year is stupid.

Not that everyone gets fucked up on New Years. I realize that often normal people have others in their lives they can do meaningful things with, but I wouldn't know anything about that.

 

I don't do anything. I just drink with my girl and wake up in the morning fresh as a daisy for a walk in the alps. Best start to a year ever.

 

i don't really have a "preferred" way to spend the evening. sometimes i'll go out if there's a get-together worth attending, sometimes i stay home and do nothing, sometimes i work. tonight, the guy in the next apartment is having some people over to drink a few beers, so i'm going to do that.

i assume that was covered under "surf the internet."

 

watching in person, a local community pyrotechnic display, where they make moving pictures with different colors of fire and explosives. i haven't seen one of those in years and i think that might be fun. (yes i've seen the pretty colored sky bursts nearly every fourth, but i haven't seen a good, or any, ground display, in decades)

other then that, and considering he unlikelihood of it, being creative, by myself, on the computer, or tagging along with whatever my housemates or the local furry group have planned, if anything.

 

I have a tradition I follow every year. Expensive new suit, bar/club, alcohol, dancing/girls/fights/hilarious people.

Usually I'd be out n about doin' this and plenty of that.

I have slowed down over the years, though..

There's 7 minutes to go...

I plan to be on the toilet having a poo at 12.00...
