Into the Wild Lords of Dogtown Boondock Saints Hell Ride Ingorious Bastards Local Color Blow Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Almost Famous Taking Woodstock American Beauty Donnie Brasco Donnie Darko Goodfellas Pulp Fiction Godfather I & II I'll come back when I remember the really good ones I can't think of right now
Ya I love Into the wild, lords of dogtown, blow and taking woodstock. I havent seen fear and loathing yet.
You either Love it or you hate it, there's rarely a medium with Fear and Loathing. I like it because it's the only movie made from a book that I know of, that is pretty much EXACTLY like the book. This year Johnny Depp i in another Hunter Thompson movie......Rum Diary. Should be a good one, the book is awesome.
:iagree: Zulu Dawn is another great Peter O'Toole historical epic. Zulu Dawn is more of a battle movie though. This movie is about a battle in 1879 in South Africa between British imperial troops and the Zulu Army. 30,000 Zulus descend on an encampment of 1,700 British troops and slaughter them. That is pretty much the movie, but it is awesome. Brilliant depiction of British colonialism with a brilliant score and chock full of metaphor...one of my favorite films.
500 Days Of Summer, Man On Wire, Hurt Locker, Avatar, Hump Day, Two Lovers, Headless Woman, Up In The Air, The Hangover, Invectus. Those are some of 2009's favorites.
I havent actually seen all of those. THat is just the mindset I was in when I made that post. I know I'm forgetting a few. Feel free to add to the genre-specific list. Mainly because I could go for a good disaster movie right about now.
