different areas, tastes, and scenes. of course mine would never be played at the raves you go to.

those hardtek noises are :ack2: imo. I like hardstyle, and that along with dubstep and drumnbass are pretty much what plays here besides those surface electro tunes.

 

Well the general ethos of raves since it broke away from club culture in 94 has gone through breakbeat, jungle, techno, acid techno and then on through the teks, DnBs, hardtrance etc...Been like that all throughout Europe, the home of free parties for over 15 years...Although a Canadian friend of mine said that some of the ones up in the mountains near Ontario(?..not exactly sure where, maybe Toronto..cant remember) said that its pretty much the same there..

 

I wouldn't listen to any of the music you posted while rolling or at a rave. But I'm more into trance and old school shit...and DJ Baby Anne!!! the last video you posted was funny.

 

yeah toronto is much different too though. like the scenes are different from the many many different scenes in Europe, to the Canadian scene, the US east coast scene, to the US west coast scene, to Australia's. My scene i'm in is Los Angeles, which branched off from the san fransisco scene and is the youngest rave thriving area.
the different scenes are much different cuz of the culture differences of the people, the government, and the origins. All of which are much more different than any other area. like raves in america were influenced by disco, as the rave scene in europe has already started. and Australia's started in the 80's as "dance parties" mainly within the gay scene and got attention in the 90's
i'm just throwin that out there cuz i find it super interesting.

but like the first song i put up, Riverside, started out playing at the small raves in my area (I live in Riverside), months before it began getting attention from clubs. so ya it's more like a club noise, but for a lot of people that live here (that mainly listen to hip hop and rap), it's pretty different. and i think its popular in australia too im not sure. those surface electro tunes like Riverside are starting to be intertwined with popular music now though cuz it appeals to a lot of audiences in this area. I hear it rarely on the radio, at the gay clubs, and then rarely at the raves anymore cuz its popular now and the kickin songs always change fast.

I was going to parties when I was 13 My dads side are settled travellers, was never in the UK after the public relations act was passed but when I was born we were in Spain where there was a three day acid house festival. Soon as I was born though we came to Ireland. My dad got involved with a rig crew again in 2001 and we went to the UK again in 2002 for the Steart Beach gathering as part of the tekoffence soundsystem. I had to stay at my nans though although at that age I was more interested in action man

About two years later my dad started taking me to local parties in West Cork and since then Ive always been involved somewhat, never got into the music till I was about 14 though. My dad stopped going to parties last year after he fucked his back falling off a ladder but now we have plans of building a system again, just need to find the funds to get the project on its feet.

Aphrodite is jungle but aphrodite, outside of the club scene wouldnt be playing on a free party rig. There are some excellent jungle DJs still playing but the closest to a commercial DJ that Ive heard playing at a free party or teknival would be Chris Liberator. Next teknival Im able to go to will be Scumtek 4 in July, will try and borrow a mates camcorder to get some footage of it.


To be honest I know fuck all of the rave scene and how it develped in the States but the UK has birthed a lot of underground dance music and still has a very strong following behind it. Ireland, not so much but luckily theres still about 3 local free party rigs that are regularly putting on great events...pigs have been on top of things recently though due to stupid cunts posting details and directions on facebrick.

Bit of a long post there but just putting my case forward. And again, admittedly know fuck all about the scenes developement in the States.

no doubt bad fish, i have to give it to the uk for the scene... much more hardcore than the here in the states. here it was more of a fad. dont get me wrong there are still followers and people that have never given up, but more than not it was a fad for most, if u go to a party now, its just club parties, nothin undergroun, at least not round these parts, i wish there was, that why it died out cause too many found it a trend and didnt support the scene the way it should have or needed to be supported. u and your dad get somethin goin, let me know ill hop on jet plane to west cork and party down with u guys. lol. be good time though wouldnt it? ive seen videos of parties in the uk and ireland, even fuckin japan, and its hard to find anything to compare to that round here... but i have been to some awesome ones in my lifetime. good luck on your guys journey badfish

 

Our system is just going to be a small party one, if we even get it off the ground that is.

Theres about 4 local systems though, a 16kw one from the mountain, 5kw here in town, 20kw half way to the mountain but thats mainly used at festivals...not really a free party rig.

Thats the full rig there, that wasnt a local party though, that was at Czechtek in 2006. Never been to Czechtek but going to the Summer Of Hate in Czech this year, another big teknival there
