Mine this year was spending Christmas alone, to save infecting our friends and family with Covid. It was mainly due to our daughters 3 week old baby.
Chatting on HF certainly helps to pass some time. LOL

You have just reminded me of our nutty friend, who had 19 cats at her Christmas dinner a few years ago.
    PS,
I hope that one of our mods does not spot my reply, or I will end up banned again. LOL

Family dinners and Christmas in my family was too chaotic! Six kids, grandparents, others... too much!

My traditions these daze are peace and quiet, a good meal with a companion nearby.

    Happy Boxing Day to all!

We have a nice family Christmas dinner - for the last few years it's been putting some nice steaks on the grill - very easy and everyone loves it, not like the whole kitchen thing with Thanksgiving. It may not happen exactly on Christmas day, but it alway happens. My kids and spouses all get along splendidly, live fairly close and they enjoy it as much as we do - they bring their pups who also get along well...so it's just fun, a lot of laughs, some good red wine...this year we even left the dishes until the next morning...

Going back a long time ago, we would cut a tree, from tree farm or wild tree in forest, with permission, from land owner.
Plus kissing under mistletoe, that's another story!

I would say lights! Putting them up or going to see them. A close second is watching Christmas movies and shows. Sadly, holiday specials are more about pushing an agenda rather than just celebrating the Holidays.

I do agree! Since the age of three when I shocked myself plugging in the tree lights I have always loved the strings of lights...

The age-old tradition of discovering all of our Christmas lights are conked, the bulb tester conked, and the stores sold all their Christmas lights. Therefore I have to setup the spare sets of lights that I stashed in the garage last year to use this year.

Christmases of my youth bore an uncanny resemblance to the one in the 80s mprofanitiwovie A Christmas Story, The highlight was bringing in the Christmas tree. It was always too big to fit through the door, and dad would purple the air with profanities. Why , you might ask, after so many years couldn't he get it right? Cuz then it wouldn't be Christmas!

In college, bringing home a "stray cat"; someone who wasn't able to travel to see their family and was spending Christmas alone.

Cats and Christmas certainly bring back some memories.
When our son was in his late teens, on his way to play the drums at a Christmas eve heavy metal concert, he came across an abandoned kitten. Obviously not wanting
to leave him in a busy main road, he put him in the pocket of his hoodie and played at the concert with a kitten's head popping out of his pocket all the time.
When he got home, he hid the kitten in his bedroom, afraid that the dog would eat him for his Christmas breakfast. I managed to persuade him that dogs don't eat cats, so I called the dog and they quickly became friends.
Christmas day was fun, when he decided that it was his job to help Jane stuff the turkey. He was everywhere and Jane went ballistic, telling Terence to find his owner and take him home.
We never traced his home and he was part of our family for almost 18 years.
