virgin suicides (obviously) and candy is good too. with the virgin suicides both the book and the movie were amazing and stood on their own. with candy though I way prefer the movie than the book.
X-men, I only like the movies Ronia, the robber's daughter, Fear and loathing in Las Vegas, Trainspotting, Renegade (Blueberry).
The Outsiders - both book & movie are amazing, I always cry at the same parts Tank Girl - the comics are waaaay better, but the movie was fun and I loved Lori Petty
Meh, I would have added Lord of the rings if I wasn't such a fan of the books, so the movies were actually not a satisfying transfer at all (for me).
I guess Vanilla Sky is directed after a book. Just watched it. Awesome. And Harry Potter, fucking weakness, i just love the books and movies.
The outsiders was pretty good to read and to watch. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was great but the book was far better. One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest was the same way.
I'm surprised ppl prefer the book to the movie of Fear and Loathing cuz as much as I read of the book, it was the movie script exactly... word for word. Isn't it?
Even though the story was tweaked somewhat, Great Expectations (the recent-ish one with Gwyneth Paltrow) for some reason. Romeo and Juliet. Again, despite straying from the book in many places, Enduring Love. Ummm I'm sure there are more but my mind's gone blank. Not read The Hours yet, but I love the film.
Oooh The Hours is great, both movie and book!! The Memory Keepers Daughter I love American Psycho but haven't read the book yet.
Ditto re American Psycho. I don't think I wanna read it actually lol... but I do love the film. Angela Carter's In the Company of Wolves I like too.
My favorite book-to-movies would have to be Jurassic Park (despite Spielberg's adaptation was pretty far from the book, it was an awesome movie), Watchmen (despite the fanboy hatred, I really dug the movie), and Sin City. I'm sure I've got more but those three come to mind as some of my favorites.
I can't think of any good adapations right now but one to avoid is marley and me. The book was fantastic, I read it four times but the film (and Aniston) was atrocious. If you've ever seen the trailer and thought it looked good, ALL the best bits of the film are in the trailer.
