Im only 19 and about 270 pounds 6 feet I have been big my whole life and I never expect to be skinny however i would like to lose 20 or 30 pounds just for self esteem and so on
I have been involved in sports in high school, I was actually a wrestling champion but now that sports are gone and i cant seem to find fun exercise
I find myself starting to diet eating healthy salads for lunch(which i quite enjoy) light dinner and so on but i tend to fall off the band wagon and get right back where i started
I have been thinking about trying to start eating natural foods and living off the land more, maybe not completely but i would very much like to grow my own veggies and so on I like meat to much to give it up and i think eating an animal is very natural
so how can i keep my motivation, what can I do for exercise that I may find interesting and possibly other ideas

Wii Fit! Sounds corny and stupid as hell, but it's so much fun. It weighs you and tells you your BMI by standing on a balance board. It has all types of exercises to help you work every single part of your body, including yoga and step aerobics. It's a lot of fun. It's $99 at Gamestop for the game and the balance board.

In high school, I knew someone who weighed that much. We both started smoking pot, and he joined myself and a mutual friend of ours in skating a lot. He required an oldschool "fat board", as he called it, but we would go on pot smoking, skating adventures around town before any of us where old enough to drive, and he lost a lot of weight. I moved, but he kept working out, and unless he's let things slip bad, last time I saw him he was built and trim, though still a massive guy. But massive like 6ft, kick your ass massive, not like fat massive.

Actually, I thought you might have been him, till you mentioned what parts of maine you where from.

I'm currently working to get built myself, I recently realized it's not that hard, and makes me feel awesome to work out. Just eat healthy, and start working out.

Also, "eat until you are almost full".

Of course this depends if you have one of those hormone/psychological issues that makes you insatiably hungry... if THAT'S the case, be motherfucking aneorexic :p

the trick is to treat exercise as something fun and make it a part of your lifestyle instead of treating it as a chore. Find things you enjoy doing. Instead of getting in your car to drive a mile or two up the road, walk. Enjoy the scenery. Get a bicycle and start using that as a means of transportation.

When summer comes, swim as much as possible. Swimming is great low impact way to work out your entire body. Find a natural body of water and make it part of your daily routine to get up and start your day with a nice swim in a beautiful spot. Thats what I did last summer and it became something meditative and peaceful, not a chore at all.

this may sound silly since you're a dude and all, but I stay in shape mainly from just putting on music after work and dancing around for an hour or so to unwind.

growing your own food and working in a garden would be exercise in itself.

Hiking is always a great way to exercise without really feeling like you're exercising.

Use getting in shape as an excuse to be adventurous and try new things...try rockclimbing, for example.

Just find things that you enjoy doing. If its not enjoyable, you'll lose your motivation really quickly.

well I live for miles from the ocean now and my family owns a beach house that we stay at for 3 weeks out of the year but surprisingly I don't swim that much, I think I'm gonna take that into consideration.
I used to dance at the club all the time but in my new effort to rid myself of e and research chems I have tried to avoid the club however I spin poi quite often, kinda similar you think.
when spring comes ill most likely walk a a lot more. its fun to take a tab and go for a nice day trip in the woods
    thanks for the advice meliai

I'm not saying I recommend it--my physicians licence has expired, but when I got up to 225,I stopped all dairy, and ate home made soups ,salads steamed veggies and drank lots o' water. Got down to 175 in about 3 months. Last time I put this in the forums ,somebody jumped my pooper pretty harshly, so use your own judgement on this. And I took a good multiple vitamin.

I would say to anyone wanting to lose some is to avoid grains and i agree with avoiding the dairies too unless you want to look like a cow with huge udders and all that :p
getting into and raising your own food is also alot of work so im sure that will help too since eating really healthy is expensive unless you can do it yourself.

i lost 40 pounds via gym/eating changes.. there's not many shortcuts other than cutting down what you eat, maybe try just eliminating snacks from the routine for now and stick to the breakfast..lunch..supper.. walks etc if you don't have gym access. Maybe watch your calorie intake and try to stay below a certain amount, 1500-2000 cal diet etc.. switching to diet soda's/water.. eliminate high cal juices... those can screw you. and just keeping at it above all, be honest, every days a new start to watch the in take

I think you should get a full bic, a space blanket or two, some twine, a field guide on mushrooms and plants, a good knife, and go spend some time in the woods, you'll lose weight right quick :p

Sometimes, a few changes can make all the difference.

When adopting a new lifestyle, I decided to make light versions of my favorite recipes by replacing or reducing the quantity of "rich" ingredients: use half the amount of cheese I normally would, replace sour cream for yogurt, ban red meat (poultry, dairy and fish are good though), rely on spices to add some flavor, and so on. I also adopted olive oil for my cooking, insisted on having 2 portions of vegetables or fruits at every meal and found healthy ways to fulfill my cravings. In 6 months, I lost almost 40 pounds and in no pain.

If you have an organic grocery store or natural health store nearby, you should check it out. They have plenty of healthy goodies (chips, chocolate, cake mixes, pastries, cereal bars, dairy, candies, etc.), you'd be surprised. Sure, even if healthy and organic those can make you gain weight if you have too much, so don't over indulge.

I was over 250lbs, and I wanted to be better to my body, I am lactose intolerant. I finally cut dairy of of my diet, and I have lost 60lbs, with only moderate exersice. I think if you cut out all your cheese and milk intake you'll do fine.

I want to be a vegitarian, but my body is constantly craving protien because of my now overly active lifestyle.

I used to be only able to jog a block and a half (last year), now I can jog for hours! I feel great too!

the thing isn't really dieting though...

you gotta get up off your ass and burn those calories off!

    you have to hate food!

    you have to hate fat!

    FEEL THE BURN!

and don't starve yourself...you'll look gross...

Pursue active hobbies... walk a lot and I agree 100% with the idea of ridding your diet of all dairy- we're the only adult animal that drinks milk and what is milk in nature for and why? Think about it.

It's normal, your body NEEDS proteins. There's plenty of vegetable sources for proteins though, some being even richer in proteins than red meat (quinoa, for example). Vegetable proteins are also easier to assimilate by the body, so you'd need to eat less to absorb the same quantity.

Lol you don't have to hate food, you just have to not love it so much. Less is more. If you have less on your plate, you'll savor it more. Which is true with pretty much anything in life.

I agree with the getting off your ass part, though. Feel the burn!
