supposedly, Sir arthur conan doyle, who wrote sherlock holmes etc, once played a prank on a group of his friends when they were all staying together in a hotel, he sent 5 of them messages which all read: "we are discovered. flee immediately." to see how they would react, mostly they came down for breakfast in the morning mildly confused, except for one, he had run away in the night and was never seen again.
