Yesterday we went to a yoga meditation seminar thing. Well it was more of a yoga thing. Anyways it was very nice because in this practice we did only a few yoga poses that were simple and yet we held them for about 10 or 15 minutes each. Durring the time of holding the pose we were to work inword on if we were holding the pose because of our ego telling us to or because we really wanted to challenge ourselves. It was really cool. It was enlightening. None of us realized how long we were doing that for and were suprised to find how we held the poses so long. Like it would start to burn or whatever and you just work twards the peace on the other side of that to get through it. It is a metaphor for a lot of things in life that we go through.

Yes, hatha yoga practitioners would do well to find this balance, between ego and necessity. This is very much at the core of all action. Well done!

The workshop was on Pratyahara(withdrawel from the senses). One of the eight limbs of yoga as described by Patanjali.
