I as many of you know am a John Denver fan, and a Tree Hugger. I was given the gift of THIS Sunrise on 25 DEC 2005 at 0630 hrs Pacific time zone. in Las Vegas Nevada. I was standing just outside my front door of my 3rd floor flat. Enjoy my Xmas Sunrise!!!
that's great Matt... God must have given you that as a special present for being the only hippy in vegas ...keeping a prescence of the Light there
Hi Matt-Nice post-You sound like a pretty down to Earth person; how do ya handle the pace of that place?-How do ya find a tree to hug in the desert?-Huggin cactus could be a little tricky!
Damn. My dinosuor computer (OS Windows 97BC) wont let me load pics but I know what you're talking about Matt. anytime you can look out your door first thing in the morning and go "WOW!" the little kid in you can laugh at the adult for not believing in magic. as for Vegas; one of the most vivid memories I have from my frieghttrain hopping days is rolling thru the desert all night being blown away by all the stars and the endless ocean of sand and then suddenly, in the middle of all that nowhere, this little kingdom of luminous crystal pops up and owns everything. It made me feel like an ignorrant barbarian riding on the back of a steel dragon, taking me to the secret city where the wizards lived.
Ape-You have a good way with words-that was well put-Me and Dave rode those freight trains through the desert in 66' tryin to get to New Orleans-Wow-what a ride-the desert at night is really amazing-those boxcars are a rough ride though-and ours was real dirty-we hopped in around Phoneix and when it finally stopped the next day ' it was nightime and we saw a stream/river and house lights on across it-we went the other way towards another city-it was El Paso and those lights across the river were Mexico-Quarez!-sure glad we went North and not South-we would probably still be in a Mexican jail' as we had weed and acid on us-we hitched the rest of the way to the Big Easy-which was not so easy in those days about long haired draft dodgin Yankee/hippies!-
Thanks Rob and much respect. By the time I got on the road even the southern rednecks had longhair and were smoking weed (looks like you guys made an impact) so I no doubt had an easier time of it than you did (as long as I steered clear of politics and religion anyway). thanks for taking point.
holy shit, u guys are real fucking hippis, any of u guys got AIM? im 18, and am thinking about drivign acrossteh united states ocnce schools out. and seeing teh scenery and stuff while im still alive.. anyways id love to chat w/ u guys, pm me, my AIM name is : jaredDeinlein
Lol! Actually travelling while you're still alive isn't a bad plan. and if you do it right, you'll always be young. Check out the Camping/Outdoor living forum for some road tips for starters.
Yes... traveling while still alive is highly recommended as your appreciation of the journey is compromised otherwise! Some day I'd like to just point my car/bike/whatever in a direction and go without any itinerary.
Thats funny stuff-I used to think just like that!-Crazy-One time in 66' me and 4 other guys left school and decided to see America-we had an old beatup woody station wagon 2 kilos of cheap pot-called Tiaquana rag weed -60 bucks a key!-2.5 lbs.-we had alot of acid' some water' very little food and no money-we figured we would just sell pot all the way across the country-we siphoned gas from parked cars and made it as far as Lordsburg' New Mexico-we were stealin gas out of a car and a cop came round the corner-he saw this hose hangin out the window and told us to follow him to the jail-we did-we went in and those cowboy cops started takin everything out of the car-they never came in with the pot!-they didn't touch it-why?-I don't know-but the next day when I woke up they drug me and the other guys out and shaved our heads! They thought that was real funny-when they got done we looked like the fucking Hari Krishna-Any way they gave us the car back and kicked us out with a fine and a warning not to ever come back-I haven't! The End-
pictures are amazing. reminds me of staying up all night to watch the sunrise. particularly a fan of those not so appreciated snowy winter days...when the snow has fallen and although it is still snowing, and a gray sky has stolen the sky. the outdoors seem to look so perfect...and peaceful.
Not if you're travelling cross country. some states have some serious laws as far as pot goes. I wouldn't risk it. there are safer ways to make money along the way.
well i am broke... but i wanna smoke though. like ride my car up a mountain park it, lay on my hood and smoke a joint while im staring into the night sky, and viewing the horizon... man i smoke every day.. i dont think i could travel w/o it,.. i have anxiety problems..and pot makes me better.
