I know it might work for people with anxiety but for like getting high I feel absolutely nothing. I do 4mg and still feel nothing. I can take 1 hit of trees and feel something but not even feel crap off a lot of xanax. i do not get why so many people crave it for.

I don't understand why people like benzodiazepines either. I have taken Klonopin or Xanax every day for the last 5 years and never found it recreational. I actually DISLIKE taking it because it makes me hungover the next day, thus detracting from my Vyvanse experience.

You are correct that Cannabis is much stronger and more noticeable. I unfortunately smoked one time soon after taking a Klonopin and I felt like crap. It really took away from the high and I felt SOOO tired the next day.

If I wasn't physically dependent on benzos, I would gladly not take them, but I really needed them for anxiety at one point from 5 to 3 years ago, so I built up quite a tolerance and never could ween myself off of them 100%.

Benzo's have a very short if not non existent euphoria.. Some people may confuses stupor with euphoria .. Neither are the same.

I don't really get the benzo 'high' either. I take Ativan a few times/week for my anxiety, but don't really see why anyone would want to use it recreationally.

I don't think y'all eat bars right or are getting fake ones(which there are quite a few going around on the market now unfortunately). Idk, maybe it's just where im from, Houston, Texas. Everybody loved bars, we really just ate as much as we could as often as we could. Honestly it could probably have been considered an epidemic for a while there.

There is a euphoria with benzos, but I guess you either like them or you don't. And, with benzos it's not so much the euphoria, but the barred out I dont give a shit about anything right now feeling.

Ativian doesn't have much recreational value, unlike xanax or k-pins.

That's the thing. Unlike some drugs, which will produce euphoria in like 90% of the people who take them, benzos are highly user-dependent.

If the person taking them ENJOYS dis-inhibition and not having to hold back their feelings/words, then, yes, I can see why benzos would be HIGHLY desirable, especially Klonopin and Xanax at doses over 3-4 mg at once.

However, just due to the natural variation in peoples' preferences, some people don't like dis-inhibition and prefer other highs. For example, I love opioids of any kind. They make me feel wonderful and blissful no matter what. And they don't dis-inhibit me or make me incapacitated. And MOST people would also admit (although they might be embarrassed to admit it because of the stigma on opioids) that they enjoyed any opioid experiences as well.

But with benzos, we have people like you who really enjoy that 'not giving a shit' feeling, but people like me who don't like feeling physically intoxicated.

It is hard to explain what I am trying to say, but I think you know what I am getting at.

Yeah. Clonidine is a drug used originally for high blood pressure. It also has anti-anxiety effects, especially when one's anxiety manifests itself physically, like a pounding heart, excessive sweatiness, etc.

I don't think it really has much recreational use from what I have heard though. Some opioid dependent patients use it to lessen withdrawal symptoms. It acts to suppress the release of Norepinephrine (a form of Adrenaline) in the brain and body. Thus, it keeps you from getting a 'fight-or-flight' response.

    I hope that helps.

And like the above post says, it is dangerous and possibly lethal. That is why they use ACE inhibitors for hypertension mainly now.

once someone gave two of them to me and said they were for anxiety, so I thought it would be like xanax or whatever, but it just made me fall asleep so I was wondering what they were.

that explains a lot. thank you so much.

I know I shouldn't take things with out knowing what I'm taking, but miraculously I'm still alive.

I've had xanax before as well and didn't really find it to be any different from the ativan. To each their own, I suppose.

They don't get anyone "high", is why.

Sedate you, in a mildly pleasant, comfortable way.

I'd only take them for social anxiety or to fall asleep, personally. But if you get out of hand with them you can end up with a physical addiction, though I don't know if that's accompanied by psychological addiction, in most or any people.

hmmm maybe I have not taken enough. but I took 4mg and felt nothing. I mean I just felt as sober as I was before I took them. waited about 2 hours and still felt normal. I did not feel dizzy tired just simply the same I felt before I took the pills.

In addition, most people consider the only drugs that unanimously get someone high to be the drugs that directly or indirectly potentiates Dopamine flux in the Nucleus Accumbens in the brain. Of course, amphetamines and opioids do this directly, but even Cannabis and psychedelics do this indirectly. However, I have not seen any evidence that benzos do this. In fact, potentiating GABA as they do, this actually suppresses dopamine release in the Nucleus Accumbens.

Define "high" because I know about 50 people personally that would disagree.

And if you are physically addicted to benzos you are most certainly psychologically addicted to them. In fact most people are just psychologically addicted to them.

Haha I actually had a friend who took at least one for a WHOLE TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then he had to stop because he was getting drug tested, but the night he quit he railed 10mg of Opana for the first time ever and then threw up later. He swore up and down it was the "bar withdrawls." No dumbass, your tolerance for opiates just sucks and you couldn't handle oxymorphone:rolleyes:
