This movie was great. That's what I think and 92% of aggregate critics at Rottentomatoes also liked it as well as 95% of audiences. That is close to unanimous in opinion.

It is also a movie for X-Men fans. If you have not seen the other 6 X-Men movies or at least X-Men: First Class, you will be a bit lost. So, do a marathon and watch at least X-Men Last Stand and First Class to maybe catch up on some of the history.

Like the title suggests, it is a time travel movie - opening in a dystopian near future where most mutants have been killed off and a lot of humans for the fact that they carried the genes to make mutants. This is being done by advanced robots called Sentinels which were created by a mutant fearing Dr. Trask (Peter Dinklage) with the help of Major William Stryker (Josh Helman) back in 1973.

The Sentinels are destroying the last stronghold of the mutants and the plan of Eric / Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) is to send the consciousness of Logan / Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back to that time to prevent Raven / Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) from killing Trask after she discovers he has been experimenting on mutants.

Logan is also to use his interpersonal skills (joke here) to convince the young Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to put aside their differences and prevent the Sentinel program from happening, thus changing the future.

Well, Magneto is in a metal-free prison under the Pentagon and Charles Xavier is a mess after losing all the mutants in the school after the1962 Cuban missile problem. He is holed up in his mansion with Hank McCoy / Beast (Nicholas Hoult), doing drugs, which caused him to lose his psychic powers. (This is why you need to have watched First Class).

Wolverine's charm finally gets the Professor off drugs and they go into Cerebro to locate Raven.

Magneto is sprung from prison with the help of Quicksilver (Evan Peters) a mutant who can move so fast he seems to teleport. The rest, as they say is history - only it hasn't happened yet.

The temporal paradox seemed to be satisfied - no obvious flaws that I caught. There may have been some canon discrepancies with Wolverine & Col. Stryker in the Vietnam war as seen in X-Men: Origins Wolverine but you can't expect everything in a storyline to fall in place after 6 movies. (This ain't Star Wars). Also, for the really fanatic nerds who actually READ comic books, I've read that this does not follow the actual script of the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont. Deal with it.

Other X-Men appearing are Bobby Drake / Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) and Ororo Munroe / Storm (Halle Berry)There are also cameo's of Cyclops (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen).

I plan to see this at least another time in theater, maybe more.

Meh, I prefered the previous one, First Class a lot more

This was ok, certain parts looked cool, but a bit dull in places and it got a bit too Iron Man 2 with the Nixon era sentinels

Jackman, I could watch another 5 movies with him as Wolverine, and there is something about Lawrence gal knows how to act

I just loved First Class, my favourite X men movie, this was a bit of a disappointment after that.

Thats another thing, there wasnt really any bad guy in this movie

It was just ok for me. I enjoyed the First Class move a lot more. Was a nice story but I am not a fan of time travel movies.

I haven't seen this one yet, due to crazy/busy scheduling, but can't wait til I get to see it!

I have seen all of the X-men and anxious to see the new adventures this one will bring to the series.

It's always a concern though that when the series has been sooo good and they make another movie for that series that this new one sucks and left wondering why the hell everyone wasted their time. I'm glad to read the comments that everyone thinks it's been done well and worth seeing it.

    Thanks.

Great movie I saw it last Friday. I usually wait a week before attending a new movie to avoid the massive crowds. It was worth the wait :2thumbsup:
